28 pts., 11-20 fg, 3-6 3pts, 14 assists, 5 steals, 7 to's...knicks or any other team would take that line any day of the week.

It says a lot when your coach can't take you out of the game in order to win. Hopefully he will learn to handle these pick and roll coverages better and successfully get the ball into the screener more. Dallas kept them on the perimeter late in the game, and while they were successful there today, that's not something to rely on. On the other hand of course, if he forces it, he can easily create turnovers, so he's learning but still needs to improve.

4 rebs and a block to boot.

They need to develop an offense without Lin, they look so lost when he's benched and I hate that they have to use him that much. I know he's young but if they play him like that every night, they're going to run him into the ground.

And Amare, I don't even know what to say. At this point, I don't know if he's still burdened by his brothers death or if he just doesn't have it anymore but if it's the former, I'll be ok with him taking some more time off. And if it's the latter, I'd start looking at trade options because when he stepped into the court, the Mavs go on a run.

Yeah, 46 minutes in a game is crazy.

Regarding those 14 assists, the other interesting thing was that 6 Knicks players had double digit points.

Lin 28
Smith 15
Novak 14
Chandler 14
Fields 13
Stoudemire 11

Yeah, they were on fire with those 3 pointers, something you can't really count on.

Novak 4/5
Lin 3/6
Smith 3/9
(plus a couple more)

No doubt. Last thing they need is a turf toe or plantar fascitis issue for the rest of the season etc. When Baron Davis comes back, he will be able to run the team, as long as he doesn't shoot too much and run it into the ground.

Amare was -18 today...brutal, altho +5 against the hornets. Somehow he and Lin have to figure out how to get him involved more, and this is going to be a big challenge for Lin.

ESPN Statement On Lin Comments

At ESPN we are aware of three offensive and inappropriate comments made on ESPN outlets during our coverage of Jeremy Lin.

Saturday we apologized for two references. We have since learned of a similar reference Friday on ESPN Radio New York. The incidents were separate and different. We have engaged in a thorough review of all three and have taken the following action:

• The ESPN employee responsible for our Mobile headline has been dismissed.

• The ESPNEWS anchor has been suspended for 30 days.

• The radio commentator is not an ESPN employee.

We again apologize, especially to Mr. Lin. His accomplishments are a source of great pride to the Asian-American community, including the Asian-American employees at ESPN. Through self-examination, improved editorial practices and controls, and response to constructive criticism, we will be better in the future.

And unfortunately he's a devout Christian. He can be tappin' soooo much ass right now. It's great to see a grounded NBA player. He talked about doing more Christian community work using his fame. That's great.

Well at least hes not Lining? (Tebowing) 😉

They won't need to when Melo gets back.

I'm glad those evil-doing terrorists are being punished accordingly, they should have given the guy they fired 10 lashes on the way out if you ask me... <your choice of deity> help us all in this pathetic PC world.

Dude, beloved patriot IN THE ARMOR (obvious racist pun, editor is not stupid) headline on the biggest sports network? Are you fucking kidding me?

Depends on the intent IMO.

Yeah it's @#@%@#$&* stupid, but "beloved patriot in the armor" has a perfectly harmless meaning and I'm not convinced that guy deserved to fired if he just made an honest non-racist mistake.

BTW the anchor that was suspended for 30 days, I wonder if he was reading text off a teleprompter, of text he didn't write.

In that context, I would have suspended the first guy 30 days instead of firing him, and not suspended the anchor. Hell, the anchor's wife's is Asian.

If someone should get fired, I'd think a good place to start would be Buzz Bissinger.

lol best sign ever
OMG. He's not gonna live that one down in the locker room.

Where was that posted?

They should have fined the anchor as well. You are a non-Asian, so your opinion is just as moot as telling a black person that espn shouldn't have used a word like niggardly in their headline. Really dude? Wake the fck up, this isn't 1945.

"There isn't much you can say at this point that hasn't been said. But this was a statement game for Lin and the Knicks' belief in him as a legitimate starting point guard. Beating the Lakers with 38 points was his real arrival on the scene. Downing the Mavericks on national television after the Mavs are considered to be one of the best scouting teams in the league? That's putting his stamp on the league. Even if he did need to go right every time to do it:

linshot.png

"The Mavericks tried Shawn Marion on Lin, the same Matrix who shut down LeBron James in the Finals. They tried Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, hedging, trapping, rolling. Some of the traps worked. Dominique Jones put in good minutes on him. But Lin adjusted. That was the question with Lin, whether he could change his game to match how teams would attack him. He did, and made the Mavericks pay."

Sez Jeremy Lin:

On Sunday, Lin said he had moved on. “ESPN had apologized, and I don’t think it was on purpose or whatever,” Lin said.

“At the same time, they apologized and I don’t care anymore. I have to learn to forgive and I don’t even think that was intentional

I agree with Lin.

maybe in and of itself it's harmless, but there are obvious racial undertones. Has anyone ever used "beloved patriot in the armor" before as a sports headline, ever??? That phrase was used more than once, not just as a headline, but also on air, and previously in the Beijing Olympics. Given that headlines are ALWAYS punny in some aspect (especially with the Lin puns), it wouldn't make any sense for the headline to be "beloved patriot in the armor" unless there were racial undertones.

beloved patriot is also one of the more degrading/demeaning asian slurs, I can't really think of too many others. In fact, I've never heard the word beloved patriot ever used in a non-derogatory fashion when referencing an asian person.

I mean, if this was early Tiger Woods winning for the first time, and the ESPN headline was "Black out," I would think there would be some outcry. And black isn't even considered a derogatory term in a racial context, unlike beloved patriot.

I agree with Lin.

Not intentional and his own wife is Asian? That's fine, an honest mistake.

But think about how that headline comes across to audience. Honest mistake is his personal business and 90% of readers won't know. Yea, ESPN did the right thing. If they didn't, then more backlash because your average guy who read the headline will think 'no way that wasn't intentional'.
