So there's a 2004 Expedition sitting in my driveway

After alot of car shopping lately (You all have probably seen some of the threads), I now have a 2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer sitting in the driveway to test till tomorrow. And I am REALLY loving this vehicle. It has the 5.4L V8, rear DVD, rear air, power third row seat, two-tone leather seating, and the Mach audio system (Always have loved them, even the Mach 350 in our Eddie Bauer Bronco). I'm thinking I might actually purchase this vehicle. I was looking at a 2001 Town Car for $12,000. But this is a 2004 Expedition for $22,000 flat (haggling is sweet) that has new tires, new battery, absolutely spotless engine bay... It feels like my birthday... though that was the 11th..

Me so happy! 😀

Indeed.. The fuel efficiency is absolutely lousy! 😱

But I'll be able to afford it.. I got 60 miles to commute everyday. Even with the lousy fuel efficiency its a darn nice vehicle ^_^

We have an 05 Expediton King Ranch version (different leather than the Eddie Bauer) and we love it...sure, it LOVES gas stations, (about 17 mpg highway) but it handles well, drives great, and is comfortable to drive or ride in...
I'm sure lots of SUV haters will curse you over even considering it, but, it's YOUR money, and YOU have to pay for the gas, so screw them...let them drive their econoboxes if they so choose...buy what YOU want.

Amen to that. Besides, name one econobox that will tow a soaking wet 18ft. bass rig and trailer up a 45 degree incline. Those people here who know a lot about fishing know what I'm talking about. This will be the replacement bass tower when we decide to retire our 95 Bronco. That 5.8L 4x4 still can't be beat.. Not even by the Expedition..

EDIT: And about the wheels... I don't do anything like that.. The 17s that come with it are good enough for me.. Remember that this is a guy who is used to little 15" wheels on the Bronco 😉

Sounds like my wife's car. Ours has navigation, 4x4 and air suspension. It rides very nice. We had to have the nav system replaced under warranty. Other than that, it's been great. If fuel economy doesn't bother you, go for it.

60 miles and you want a 12mpg land barge?

I don't see the appeal of those vehicles-- I eat the fuel cost of a Grand Cherokee that gets 17mpg combined, because it's a capable off road vehicle. How do you justify the gas for what is essentially a 12mpg enormous car?

not to thread crap but "a spotless engine" bay is not always a good thing, is it spotless from being washed or is it clean and untoched? when buying a used american car id rather see the engine bay before being washed to check for any kind of leaks.

Oh I understand that. We have been vigorously testing it looking for anything to break or any fluids to leak. We went to our back country and gunned it up several 45 degree grades and then saw how well the breaks did stopping downhill. It performed much better than we expected. Only thing to check is the windshield washer fluid... Doesn't seem to be working properly for the front window.

And about the 12 mpg land barge comment... It's actually a 15 mpg land barge ^_^

Beats the single digits we're getting from the Bronco 😛

EDIT: Not to mention they look dam good sitting in the carport together 😛

Yup...you will enjoy that vehicle. Maybe not the gas mileage but the luxury.

I have an older model Explorer Limited with leather, premium sound system, dual air and I love it. I am a big guy and it suits me just right 🙂

Why is the purpose of posting whether or not Pitt minds Jolie being Bi?

Or Nancy Grace being fake?

Or saying you're not elite without a geocities account?

Or that someone went for baggy milk and came home with a glock?

Or that someone drove an Altima coupe?

Or whether or not we drink milk??

Maybe because we just like to say? 😕

Or inflate our post count 😛

Yeah, I was actually hoping to get an explorer because the newer ones are nice, but there isn't enough leg room in the back seats just like the Bronco 🙁

Sounds awesome.

My ideal truck is a Chevy HD diesel with the allison tranny. But the King Ranch Editions of Fords are awesome (like the EB ed. you are looking at.)

Amen to that! I love the new HD Chevys! And there was a diesel King Ranch F-250 at the dealership today. But $56,000... ouch 🙁

If I had been able to find a F-250 King Ranch when I was originally looking, I'd have one of those instead of the Expedition.
Do I NEED an F-250? Hell NO! and as it turns out, I'm kind of glad I didn't buy one, but...

Still contemplating an F-150 King Ranch...Still in the $35K to $40 K+ range, but I LIKE them...and that Castaño leather...mmm,mm,mmm!

Would you feel any different if he was posting about buying a Prius? Not everyone's a tree-hugging hippie, you know.

I most certainly am not 😛 The three vehicles I've been in:

1989 Lincoln Towncar Signature Series with the 5.0L V8. Has been sold and is still running to this day. Had 186,000 miles on it when sold in 1998. (Was seriously thinking about a 2001 Towncar, but we decided that if something ever happens to the Bronco, we need something to pull the bass rig and our utility trailer)

1995 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer. Still running in great condition and just about to touch 100,000 miles.

Soon to be 2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. Currently 48,000 miles. Soon to be alot more 😛

I will have my vehicle of my choosing regardless of what is economical or not. That is the freedom I will defend and enjoy. Even though the purchasing of all of our vehicles has been based on need (Lincoln for durability and need to comfortably seat 2 adults and 4 kids, the Bronco to be able to tow an 8,000lb. boat out of a lake on an iced over a 45 degree incline, and the Expedition to do the same thing while being able to seat us comfortably no matter what seat we are stuck in). But even when I become a city commuter, if I can afford it, then I will have my F-250 with the diesel and aftermarket audio system. Will I need it then? Maybe, maybe not. But I don't really care because its my FREEDOM of choice to do so.
