So there was this young woman on welfare.......

Lifer
Who comes into my computer shop 5 years ago. She had some crazy idea that she could "get into the computer field".
Two kids and the husband has disappeared.
So she gets into some kind of government training program.
She interns in my shop for two summers.
Yesterday she got a job offer as a Cisco Network Engineer at a Fortune 500 company.

She had no kids nor husband holding her back. What was the demographic of this person though. Was her husband rich. Ovbiouslly if the 2 kids and husband disapeered some course somewhere believed the kids were in the best interest of the father. Possibly he had a lot of money and she came from an affluient ($$$) marriage.

The husband left without the kids. She has them.

Awesome story to hear. The type of program that she was able to use and pull herself up is exactly the type of welfare programs we need to have.

And the "Ignoring the Obvious" Post of the Day Award goes to... envelope please... Btw, get a spell checker.

As it should be - go on Welfare just to get through the hard times, get help, possibly get educated, and get employment.

you might want to clear that up, it looks like you implied the kids and husband left.

Yes, I had to read it twice before I understood that she had the kids.

I also read it that the husband had taken the two kids.

But unfortunately this is a very rare story indeed, a single mother on welfare managing to work her way up to a meaningfull well paying job is not something you see everyday. I mean I went to private school since I was 3 and consider myself lucky to have a decent job, this person did not have any of the same advantages and yet still got somewhere in life. TBH, if I had been in the same situation I would probably be selling crack right now instead of getting a good job as a EE.
