My house is on a corner lot, so naturally there is a 90 degree bend on the street in front of my house. It is snowing and the roads are snow covered. I see this car, a VW Jetta to be exact, driving not only too fast for wet roads, but certainly too fast for snow covered roads. To make a short story short, the turn was negotiated quite poorly and the car up on to my across-the-street neighbors lawn and smashed into their tree.

Young female driver.

All I could think to say to her when I walked out to assess the situation was, "You are aware it is snowing, right"?

Airbags did not deploy and there was no blood so she was OK.

At first I thought to myself, "that was a dick thing to say"...then immediately after that thought, I thought to myself, "You shouldn't be driving that fast in a suburb where children are potentially at play"

I dont think that was a dick thing to say. But of course like a lot of things in life its a live and learn experience. She probably learned her lesson not to drive that fast in the snow now.

Proof that it is not just Texans who don't know how to drive in snow

I used to live in a similar type area. Had cars hit our next door house, their tree, and the tree at the bend. And this happened in all types of weather.

Too fast for wet roads? How fast was she going?

I would guess 45-50km/h, it is a 90 degree bend. She is lucky that the snowbank she plowed through slowed her down before she hit the tree though.

Damn, crazy bitch. She doesn't even have the "I'm in an SUV" excuse either :D

No, a dick move is what I did a couple of years ago.

I pulled up to an accident scene (no police yet) about a mile from my house. Apparently a teenager driving a Ferrari Testarossa had gone around a corner too fast and clipped an oncoming car. Everyone was fine but the teenager had his head between his knees on the side of the road, obviously distraught with the consequences of his stupidity.

My wife punched me and said "not nice!" when I rolled down the window and said, "Your daddy's gonna kill you." I found out later his father's a dentist with a substantial exotic car collection but the Testarossa has always been his favorite.

Did his daddy kill him? If so, can you be charged with something because you knew a crime was going to be committed and didn't report it?

At first I thought to myself, "that was a dick thing to say"...then immediately after that thought, I thought to myself, "You shouldn't be driving that fast in a suburb where children are potentially at play"

When I was a young lad of 6, we had the second house in and I distinctly recall that one morning it was snowing and I saw a sports car drift round the corner going way too fast. He missed the tree but instead plowed into the house across the streets picture window. The resulting carnage killed my friend Johnny and his mom, they were playing in the living room. The young female driver also lost the battle. It was a shitty day. The kids don't have to be outside to become a victim.

I was speaking metaphorically of course :)

The dentist is a friend of a friend but I never followed up with what happened to the kid or how much the repairs cost.

I beat you.

Watching commercials on the couch between american football quarters with a friend. I see on a commercial on TV this kid struggle to read, its about 8 yrs old so I'm all "OMG that kids so stupid. Its gonna grow up and be a dumbass" - then the glasses and cane come out. The little girl was basically blind and it was a miracle she could see at all let alone read a menu. Oh and on second watch, the menu was braille.

That my friends, is a dick move.

first off, it was a commercial. the girl in the tv couldn't hear it. secondly, it had nothing to do with driving. finally, even if the scenario did apply, you didn't say anything, your friend did.
