So...the snow is starting to melt

of course everything froze last night. My back steps were covered in a solid sheet of ice, so is the parking lot at work. You could seriously ice skate out there if you wanted to.

Tomorrow is the rain. Hopefully they get some crews out to free up the storm drains. If not I'll need to build an arc to get to work.

Wouldn't an ark be more useful?

I don't see how circle parts are going to help you...

35F and raining here right now. It's going to be above freezing during the day through Saturday at least, and tomorrow it is forecast to remain above freezing overnight as well. Good news: the nascent ice dam on my roof will melt. Bad news: by sometime Sunday our entire neighborhood will probably be relocated to the base of Schooley Mt. where Stony Brook creek empties into the south branch of the Raritan.

Pretty much same for me

We have certain areas taped off at work because the huge chunks of ice that are falling off the roof could kill somebody. Stay the hell away from buildings

Let it rain baby, let it rain. First time it's been above freezing here in a month and we've got rain storms expected for today and Friday. After a month of snow, snow, more snow, even more snow and then just to fuck with us, snow, snow and snow I'm happy for anything that isn't snow. Whether it's rain, livestock or fire and brimstone something different falling from the sky will be a nice change of pace.

I forgot about that! The huge ice damn that formed above the slider fell off this morning. If the pup had been out there, she would have gotten squished! That thing was massive and it came down to a point. It probably could have squished my fat ass!

During one of the news shows recently they talked about the average snow depth covering the northeast, makes me think we'll be seeing stories again about vermont towns being isolated for weeks as they go through a thaw flood stage.

That reminds me of when I drove up to michigan after my grandfather died. It was early spring and I was amazed at the amount of dead dear I saw along the road over the duration of the trip. There were a few stretches where I was counting one every other mile for over 10 miles.

Even the deer hate it here. Some of them take the easy way out

Been warm here, above freezing the past 2 days, and looks to be similar for tomorrow but we will be getting 6-10 inches tomorrow night and it will be getting cold again so looks like a lot of fun soon to be had.

I had to consult Google maps street view because there was so much snow and ice piled up I only had a general idea where to look!! Worked like a charm using that. The one drain was under knee deep snow and then nearly 4 inches of ice.

Also as you mentioned the streets have shrank. I hadn't seen the actual physical street curbs since December until I dug out the storm drains.

You don't live too far from me. I bet being a Trauma RN (if you still are) is pretty bad in that area...
