when I use one of my cards at the pump, I only get charged £1 - i noticed this 2 weeks ago after filling up and to date for that I only still have paid £1 for a £40 fill up.

I thought it was probably just a one-off bug, but i went down and filled up again today, using the same card, and again checking my statement a £1 charge...

very strange huh, kinda makes me wanna start going with barrels and selling them on 😛 But... That might tip them off, for now im happy with free motoring :S

I expect it is due to some incompatibility with the type of card I use, since it is an uncommon type of card issued by an unknown bank heh..

Yeah I guess as long as it's a big company it's okay to steal from them and post about it on the internet.

Totally. Ken Lay did nothing wrong, it was just big business. Same with Madoff...

buy as much gas as you can right now!

then have fun paying the bill when the real charges follow the $1 place-holder authentication ones

damn pump probably tells you right there that the station might do this

That's not the final charge, the machine just initially charges you 1 of your local currency to ensure the card is valid before letting you pump. Those 1's will turn into the full prices within a week.
