is about to die this weekend :( Its not dying per se, but the last player war will be coming to an end through Wizard intervention. The player base has been dwindling down to about 30-50 current players who have been pk'ing for the last year. They will be removing the PK* system more or less so the mud will die finally, as pk was the only thing to keep coming around for.

R.I.P mud :( Such a fun place, made so many friends there. I know most of you won't understand this post, but the ones who have lived through MUD's dying might :( This one lasted a good 14 years, people i started playing with when I was 10-11 and are now still talking too as we become mid to late 20's.

It sure isn't fun to know all your good times and friendships are at an end. To explain it to people here, try this:

Imagine Anandtech closed, because there weren't enough flashy graphics. Posters who have known each other on Anandtech for nearly 10 years can no longer communicate. Those of us who are addicted lifers don't have any place to go to relax and talk to old friends.

<- Big MUD player for ~3 years until I had to force myself away as it took too much time. That was so long ago, that I don't even remember what MUDs I played any more.

There is, but you never will recreate the experience you had there that you socialized in for so long. We could play Wow but it is not nearly the same experience, as immersing as a mud was. :(

And you know the telephone numbers of how many ATOT members? Even if you just kept your closest friends, it isn't the same without the idiots here posting flames and you and your friends putting that idiot back in his place.

none, but if you knew it was going to close down, you'd have ample time to get them...

I played Hidden Worlds ages ago (mid-90s). I've yet to come even close to the same immersive online experience in a game. :(

Thats what I found too. I've played Diablo, diablo 2, all the warcraft games, Wow, Stargate ect ect and the most immersing, fun game I have experienced is this mud.

its not the same. I played a mud from 1993-1997ish and it was so fun.. i would mud all night on a 8088 processor, 300 baud modem, with monocrhome monitor.

Wow is a distant second to those long nights of mudding.
