So the Lakers are going to split up next season?

I thought Malone and Payton signed a two year deal? Isn't this their first?

And then from what I understand Kobe is going to test the waters with another team, right?

I dont see how they will all be back next year... too much money involved to keep everybody.

1 year deals. Malone got hurt and paytons EGO is almost the size of kobes.

And from what I can see Kobe will probable be playing for the penial system next year. 😉

LOL that was cold.

Malone probably won't because his mom can't watch him anymore (she passed), and Kobe might be moving over to the Clippers... if that happens, their popularity will skyrocket...

I think you'll see Peyton leave this summer. Malone might retire, but I seriously doubt it. He'll be back. Peyton never fit into the offense and he's no longer got the legs he thinks he has. He will be a good backup somewhere next year with diminishing playing time unless he signs with a bottom feeder with no current point guard.

Kobe might go to the Grizzles, but I don't see that happening either.

Phil might get fired, but if they win it all this year (which they should) I think he'll stick around if Kobe and Malone do as well.

How big is Kobe's ego? I haven't heard him complain all postseason. Payton on the other hand...I've been hearing a lot.

the world will end if the clippers actually get a good player like kobe

It all depends on what happens with Kobe. If hes found not guilty, I suspect the Lakers will watch out for their long term future, and depart ways with Shaq, while keeping Kobe, and Malone. Malone will be around for another year. Payton will be gone.

no way, imo malone is way overrated, hes been playing like crap for the last several games. malone will retire and and shaq and kobe will be around.

Payton signed a 2 year deal IIRC. Anyway, my personal feeling is that Kobe will be back if Phil leaves. If Phil stays Kobe will leave.

Maybe we'll see Showtime Version 2. Riley is out of a job😛😉

If they win a championship they might be back, but if they get spanked by the Spurs then I think they're gone.

One of these days Phil Jackson will let Kobe know that he's not the star of the team. Shaq is the most dominant player in the game. Although I hate the Lakers, if they used their talents correctly instead of worrying about how many shots everyone is taking, give the ball to Shaq more, they'll win the game, and the championship if Shaq stays healthy.

Unfortunately, they haven't figured that out yet. Kobe continues to take bad (or should i say horrible?) shots all game long, Payton and Malone are getting to old to really be a huge factor most of the time.

I think Malone will be back, Payton might leave and go somewhere else, but Kobe will leave and find out that without Shaq, he's like Pippen without Jordan.... which is not very much.

lol. I hope the Clippers get Kobe and he brings that franchise out of the bottom dwellers once and for all. The Clippers have had good players often, but they just don't have the mentality, so they always suck!

Anyways, I dont expect to see the same Lakers team next year, winning the championship or not. I believe Payton an Malone signed two year contract, but the 2nd being an OPTION.

Phil - Gone if they win or lose.
Malone - He's the one most likely to stay. Just to break the scoring record. Or he might retire, if he wins the championship.
Kobe - Jail or going to the Clippers.
Payton - Somewhere else.

He's been playing better than Peyton.

Realisticly how much longer will Shaq be the most dominate player? 3 years tops.

Kobe and Shaq wont be on the same team next year, one way or another. If I was the GM of the Lakers, Id trade Shaq.

digi, i believe that Shaq has the potential and dominance in his position to take a team with a lot of chemisty and a good point gaurd to a championship level. Duncan can arguably be described as on of the best posts to play the game, but aside from him, i don't see any other post/center in the game that even competes on the same level, nor do i see anyone coming over the next few years.

I believe if you switched Duncan and Shaq... LA wouldn't be near as good, even though I hate Shaq and like Duncan, it's true.

Good question and hard to answer. If they win a championship, there a chance, that all of them will come back or majority at least. If they lose to spurs or some other team chances are team will be split. Coaching will probably be changed. Malone will probably retire don't see him coming back if Lakers lose. Kobe, Shaq maybe will come back depends how much money get offered and in Kobe case also depends on his criminal case verdict. I not sure if Payton will come back or not.
