Where do these "ultimate handling races" take place?

scca results firebird may be a good place to start, but that's only because I usually understand the topics I am discussing here.

The WS6 is a good car, the RSX is a good car, but neither are great cars no matter how much money you throw at them.

Also each and every person has their own set of qualifiers on anything they purchase, some have a simple desire for just a certain paint color that's offers while other's have longer checklists.

I'm too lazy to read this whole thread...

I've got a 2002 Camaro SS and never thought I'd own a "muscle" car. I absolutely love it to death, having so much fun. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Oh, and my wife is not my cousin, and I do NOT have a mullet. 😀 And I don't like Skynyrd. Or however you spell it 😉

It's spelled Skin-nerd. 😛

LOL!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I would love an RSX... but when a guy is specifically asking for a TRANS AM... what the hell was that dealer thinking?

Agreed, and I fixed your first sentence for you. 😀

This thread is a good example of why never to ask a car question on this forum unless we can figure out a way to ban 3/4s of the poeple that post in them anyway.

And another thing, take those STOOPID, OBNOXIOUS tailpipes and mufflers off of your Cavaliers and Probes and Civics and Eclipses/Lasers/Talons..... they look like crap and sound even worse.

fixed.

Yeah, those too. Just for the record, my Laser was bone stock as in NO goofy exhaust mods.

I used to want a WS6 back in 1997 or so I think, I can't remember when I test drove them ready to buy...I couldn't see the nose...it wasn't a matter of 'learning' your car size, it was a matter of that last 10/10ths being a blind battle....then I went and watched autox and these little econobox types smoked the big guns on the track...the mustangs actually did really well, however, they had harsh suspensions in my opinion once you get to the 1g+ level in them....I had mustangs and was trying to change.

I really really like my 240sx. Handling-wise it's about a 9 now...my only issue is the rear lifts off the ground a little on fast hard bumps....the front stays planted. More than likely weight issues.

Power is sparce though....at 155HP and 2800lbs, it's no granny car, but my Saturn at 127HP and 2400lbs wasn't out of the running 🙂 Fortunately the engine is capable of 350HP easy....if that wasn't enough for about $5000 and me turning wrenches and doing some electrical on a 3 day weeked I can have an inline 6 pushing 2.5 to 2.6 liters and 450-500HP....and if you think V8's sound good....damn.

On that note, my VR6 GTI had an exhaust sound everyone liked, supposedly it was the same 'pattern' or whatever of a Ferrari V12? That car sounded great, handling great except when powering through turns....I dialed so much oversteer into it yet it still wanted to understeer due to losing traction.

Oh yeah, and the "handles in the twisties" crap just takes the cake. Even better, autocross! Gawd. The best car for autox, is certainly NOTHING I'd want as a daily driver!

As an experienced snow driver, I wouldn't drive ANYTHING in PA other than FWD.

cool video, obviously that guy can drive but that car seems really nimble.
All these years later, the original Lotus, the Super 7! Designed and came out in the 1950's. Tooling long since sold to Caterham. Still produced and sold. You can't keep a good basic design down.

RSX Type S has 210 HP, i nkow thats not as much as ur "nasty american rear wheel drive monster', but coming in a smaller package, it would deliver similar performance.

As I definatley udnerstand your position of wanting "that one car", ya gotta understand the position of the dealership.

Do what you want though. As an experienced snow driver, I wouldn't drive ANYTHING in PA other than FWD.

there's no cure for bad taste, is there? some folks just like american cars...

you're actually comparing a transam to a RSX???

Really dude, WTF!!!????

One if blisteringly fast and close to a street legal race car.

The other is a 4 cylinder toy car. There isn't even a comparison performance wise. Just check the local track/SCCA races. The RSX is in a whole different class because its so slow.

You need to get out more if you are trying to show the reason the RSX sucks is because of SCCA races...I don't like the RSX, but your argument also screws the ws6.

u do realise that the rsx has half the displacement of tha TA rt? u're comparing apples to oranges.

different strokes for different folks. some ppl look at the TA and scoff, saying "i have a benz sl500, the TA is a POS". comparing cars on paper is a never ending argument that is quite pointless. u wanna compare 2 cars, go out and drive them. u will find ur answer on the road. not on this thread.
