I had some minor network problems this morning with my WLAN (it's fixed now). When I looked at the connection monitor, I noticed that one of my neighbors had a network named "Snowflake" that was unencrypted.

I have this sudden urge to log on to their network and give them some kind of message that says "Encrypt your network, because I can do this." :evil: But I would never want to do any actual harm to their computers, I'm just not that kind of guy.

You may not even have to leave a message - and you may not be the first to do this. Some wireless routers actually keep a log of the MAC addresses of the cards that sign on, and the names of the computers using them. If they're smart enough to get into the configuration pages on the router (which, considering that they left the wireless wide open, I doubt it. They just plugged it in, it worked, so they left it.) They'll see a computer name that shouldn't be on their network. Honestly, if all you did was sign on and leave a message, you wouldn't be doing any damage. And it would be good to warn them before somebody does decide to play a stupid joke and screw stuff up. Personally, I'd just walk next door and tell them.

The only issue is that I don't know which of my neighbors it is, and I don't plan to go door to door.

Yeah, the message sounds like a good idea. That should scare them enough to do something about the problem before they get h4x0r3d for real.
