The Chronicles of Narnia (CS Lewis) are great books, def geared towards kids but are still really good stories.

Although theres some debate about which book in the seris is first, I suggest you start with "The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe".

I have seen all the movies. They were all done really well and set new standard for this movie genre,

I read the first book.

I can wait for the lastest movie to hit cable.

Agreed. I think it's the best of the first five books. I need to catch-up on the movies quickly, I guess. I don't even remember if I've seen the 2nd movie!

I thought the movie was very good.

However, the film is the darkest of the four by far (though is now also my favorite).

Just read the first book. Pretty good. Needs a couple tweaks to make it a timeless tale. I saw the Chamber of Secrets movie but haven't read that one yet. The series looks like it will be worth reading. A nice break from heavy reading.

Same here, I don't understand the appeal at all.

The movies are disappointing compared to the books and Goblet is my favorite book. However, there are a few parts of the book that I can't wait to see on the screen (including the faceoff at the graveyard).
