So I was walking to my car and some guy asks to borrow my phone to make a quick phone call... I thought I'd be a nice guy and say, "ok". I did ask him specifically though, "you're not making an international phone call, are you?" and he said, "no".

what is the next digit... 70x ... that is the area code. International in the US is 011 or + ... He was being nice and disabling your caller ID like JP said.

ok my bad, my ignorance, *67....I was not aware, but doesn't it cost more to use such a service?

He was just being respectful to you. Now your number wont be on someone elses caller ID and your privacy is safe.


So the moral is it's still ok to be courteous to strangers
