No seriously, they're good if you're an angst ridden (cheese lovin') 16 year old that can't get a girlfriend. They are about the cheesiest band I've heard in a long time, some of their rifs are good though.

WTF? System of a Down has made some of the most interesting sounding music I've heard in a long time. Take it from a 21-year-old who was always able to get a girlfriend...

Interesting points. I suppose it does work out since most of the concerts I've gone to are of bands that have been around for years. For example, last weekend I went to a punk fest featuring Pennywise, Bad Religion, Social D, Offspring and Sex Pistols. Few weeks before that was Ozzfest, main draw being Ozzy, Rob Zombie and BLS. Next shows for me are Rush and Rolling Stones. I like "newer" bands like Incubus and Hoobastank but they really don't have much originality anymore.

I wholeheartily agree with the ClearChannel comment someone made. They have ruined music.

Check out POD and Chevelle. Both started as christian rock. Many of my friends are suprised by POD.

Well, that sucks that their mediocre crap music is labeled as christian rock. In my experience, though, record stores label all christian music in the same category, and it's usually under the umbrella called "gospel." I seriously saw a small section of a record store once group together OC Supertones, Audio Adrenaline, Steven Curtis Chapman, Bleach, The Kirk Franklin Choir, and Sandi Patty together in the same group and call them all "gospel." That's like six different genres all labeled as the same. Unfortunately, I think there will still be some time before christian rock is taken seriously as a separate, distinct, identifiable music genre as long as there's bands out there like Creed - who do not spread a distinctly Christian message - who get labeled as christian rock music. Same with POD, who are good, but once again not distinctly christian. If they were, MTV wouldn't touch their videos with a ten foot pole.

Atomic Bitchwax - I thought that MonsterMagnet's "Powertrip" was a great album in which this band stepped out of their grunge mold. Guitarist Ed Mundell started Atomic Bicthwax and does a similar kind of rock, although a lot of the songs are instrumentals.

He has got to have one of the most annoying voices ever. And Pearl Jam, again I can't see how you can hate creed and love them. I'm not one who thinks they sound the same at all like some people do, but I prefer creed over PJ any day. You can call me whatever radio drone you like, but I was listening to creed on cd before I ever heard them on the radio.

nah, creed is way closer to alice in chains than pearl jam. but his voice is a baritone, so people think "grunge" and "baritone" and think pearl jam, even if they sound nothing alike.

System of a Down and Staind aren't really new bands. Staind's first album came out in 1999. I heard "mudshovel" on the radio and really liked it, never bought the CD though. There really isn't anything of that caliber on Break The Cycle, which disappointed me. System of a Down released their debut album in 1998. I really like system of a down, they can sound very unique. Toxicity is an album I can listen through over and over again and never get sick of it. There's only a few current bands that I can say that about (and none have released an album in a few years).

Just because you hear a band on the radio for the first time doesn't make them "new". I hate it when people talk about the "new song from X" which came out on the CD they released a year ago.

Edit: You want to see a killer concert, go see Korn live. I'm hoping they swing back through my area so I can see them again, their July 3rd show in Detroit rocked.

I totally agree that rock and roll is in a slump right now. Sure, various bands put out a couple good songs here and there, but I just can't think of an overall superb album. The latest good albums that I can think of right now would probably be some RHCP or radiohead stuff, but I miss the days when Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, etc, where in their prime. That was rock and roll at it's finest.

IMO, rock and roll nowadays is becoming too structures, such as bands write to a certain equation in order to get good air time. I remember back in the day when Metallica would release 8 to 10 minutes songs, but in their later albums would cut those down to maybe 4 minutes just to get airtime. Grunge rock saved rock and roll in the early 90's with it's new unique sound...it's about time we had another rock and roll revolution
