There are another round of firings going on at work. I'm not going to be part of the cut but it pissed me off. All these people getting excited because they are going to be set for 2 years and not have to work.

SERIOUSLY pissed me off.

as long as the payments will cover your living expenses; then enjoy it.

Only if I had all utilities paid for a year in advance, could I afford unemployment to buy groceries and pay the mortgage.

No night out at the movies with the wife, Sunday breakfasts at IHOP or xmass presents for the grandkids

Sorry I didn't show up for work the last few weeks. I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). I called in every day, have a doctor's note, filed my paperwork. Are you firing me for medical reasons? If so then gimme my unemployment compensation or get sued. Whoever I quoted said you could be fired for any reason, without expanding on it. That is not true...there are a list of things that you cannot be fired for.

If you are at-willed out, they usually don't give you any reason.

Meh, unemployment pays shit in IL, max for single guy with no depandants is under $400 per week. My mortgage + insurance + taxes is 1600 per month, but I also have a car, utilities, and other expenses...

If I was unemployed, I wouldn't be making my mortgage payments
Sure, it's better than nothing, but, I would have a very very hard time living off of anything less than 800 per week while looking for work...

Yea I'm not sure how they can be happy about it rudeguy. Once you get used to a certain lifestyle, it is hard to make $400/wk.

It is fun for the first two weeks, then you drive yourself crazy sitting at home during the day. I was on that boat 3 years ago, and I was going to blow my brains out if I saw one more car insurance or ITT Tech commercial.

But I was fired after helping raise the department revenue by 40%, and replaced by a good friend of the boss. That might have been part of the reason I was so pissed

I think that's what the local lawn care guys do - they only accept payments by check or cash and live in the same neighborhood...
