While you guys are throwing out all your bananas, granite/marble countertops, etc, you might want to get rid of all your unsealed concrete block (like in your basements), since it usually contains trace amounts of radon. Rip all your smoke detectors out of the wall, and throw them out too, as most of them contain a 1 microcurie source of Americium 241 (pretty sure that's the atomic number).
Might as well stay inside then, since solar radiation is probably deadly.....and get rid of that microwave, while you're at it! Got an old (pre-solid state) radio or TV set? Holy shit, the tubes inside probably emit trace amounts of radiation!! 😱

Tell you what.....when the f'n milk starts GLOWING, let me know. Until then, I don't give a rat's ass about it! 🙄

You can also detect radiation from a shelf of magazines at the library.

If any of this bothers you, don't get on an airplane, ever.

I can't believe you guys even respond to this guy's idiotic posts. He's attention whoring and you are feeding him.

I call for a strike on posting in ZJ threads unless there are tits involved.

I'm sure it's possible to genetically engineer a cow that would produce milk that can glow. A nice pretty green. I think it would be awesome.

the only reason i knew produce was irradiated was because of a seen from 28 days later....

all the organic food is rotten, but there is a crate of bright green apples. and he bends over and says "mmmmm irradiated"

Hmm. I learned about it in a food science course. 😀

btw, I don't think irradiated food that is exposed to oxygen is going to last that much longer. Irradiated produce does stay fresh longer, iirc...

can anyone with more experience comment? Would irradiated produce greatly outlast rotting, non-irradiated produce, if all other things are the same?
By greatly, I mean... the rest of the produce is garbage, rotted, nasty... and the irradiated is still crisp?

Americium 241 (pretty sure that's the atomic number).

241 would be the mass number (if it is correct). Americium has an atomic number of 95. Atomic number is equal to the number of protons in the atom. Mass number is Protons + Neutrons, eg: Uranium-238 and U-235 have a difference of 3 neutrons, but the same number of protons.

UN estimates 3 million die from air pollution alone. So according to the public we should shut down all nucular plants, burn more fossil fuels and build unreliable wind turbines while at the same time complaining about gas, rare earth prices and speculate about the next Twilight book.

Why is it that peoples brains shut down when they hear the word "radiation"?

A lot of people hold cell phones to close to their brains for too long...much worse than to drink milk than glows green in the dark...

hey so how is the radiation getting in the milk? is the milk coming from japan?

Did you ever stop to think that maybe the milk was radioactive before the meltdown? There's naturally occurring radioactive substances all over the US dude. Chances of a cow eating some or drinking some is pretty good. There's this awesome stuff called radon gas that New York State is full of. Nobody was testing the milk before but now that the news networks have gotten a hold of it they're gonna shove a geiger counter into everyhting from milk to your grandmas butt hole.

I saw a statistic that estimated 320 people a year got cancer from the amount of radiation that was released by burning fossil fuels. Fossil fuels have trace amounts of radioactive elements and by burning them you dump it into the atmosphere. The end result is a slight increase in background radiation. While the increased risk to any one person is minuscule when you multiply that chance by the 7 billion people alive right now and there will be some amount of effect.

"5,000 times below levels of concern set by the FDA, including levels set for infants and children."

Does the radiation stay in your body or does it build up?

If it builds up, would this not be an issue to babies and someone who drinks a lot of milk?

If every nuclear reactor in Japan blew up we'd probably have 500x the radioactivity we see now. So that's what- 1/10th the danger level?

Gojira isn't coming to your home.
