Radiation particles have little wings, they fly over the ocean. And then up cows' udders.

Now come on...zane is our resident drug addict. His brain is far too fried for cognizant thought...and your description will probably send him out to study cow udders looking for flying radiation bugs...

Radiation! It's Fantastic!

yeah i know it's no where near harmful to anyone, but shit, this really got out of control..

first it was no danger for any leak, then very small leaks, not extremely high levels even past the evac zone... now in US milk..

yeah im starting to think nobody knows how bad this could actually be.

In 1980, when Helens blew, it was only a matter of minutes before jet streams carried ash all over the world.

Small world, dude.

nobodys freaking out, im just saying jeez i thought this was a contained accident. starting to look way cherynoblish.

A contained accident? What would have ever given you that idea?

Radiation was leaking into the air. How are they going to contain that?

Do you also think that all of the thousands of nuclear weapons that have been tested over the last ~75 years were "contained tests"? 😛

beat me too it.

don't they irradiate fruits and veggies to kill anything inside of them before hitting the store also?

You probably irradiate the shit out of them by putting them on your granite countertop.

Ohhh, fuck, now we have to get rid of ALL granite/marble/slate/stone EVERYWHERE. It's radioactive! OMG!

The shit people freak out about is amusing. When my wife had radiated iodine (the same here) after having thyroid cancer we had a little card for when we drove through Wash DC on the way home. We got stopped b/c the detectors. It was relatively amusing.

Why is it that peoples brains shut down when they hear the word "radiation"?

Because they're freaking stupid. Same reason why we call nuclear magentic resonance imaging, MRI. The word nuclear, despite having nothing to do with nuclear fission, freak people out.

Nooo you're going to destroy the produce economy!

lol

like was said earlier, sometimes its best not to let the general public know these things.

Seriously, there are things less educated people just do not need to know. If they want to know, then they get educated. Otherwise, intelligent information in the hands of the ignorant and less-educated is usually a recipe for fear.

Irradiated foods are tasty. Tasty because it's only the food I'm getting and nothing hitching a free ride into my stomach.

Though I could have sworn irradiated foods required a "universal symbol" on the packaging, and I've never seen that symbol. (I've seen it, but not on actual products I've bought)
Is it not all that much of a common practice here in the U.S., at least, at the moment?

Then again, maybe I have bought and had some, but never realized it. Because you wouldn't, unless you looked at the packaging and saw the symbol and know what said symbol means. And I really don't care enough to check the packaging to see what fancy symbols (denoting a plethora of random things) are found on the label.
