Just fucking great! :frown:

I used a Newegg.Ca's $20 off coupon I got by email to order a heat sink and I just got my shipping notice. It says:

UPS Tracking Number:
*******************
(Shipped from La Puente, CA)

I better not see some UPS brokerage fees and custom fees again (I just got screwed that way when I ordered my videocard directly from Diamond) as I was not expecting this to be shipped from the US. I thought in stock on their new .ca site meant in Canada at their new warehouse (which does not seem to exist then).

That does explain the $16 shipping fee though. :(

That's decent. I'm interested in how long it takes for it to be delivered, since I'm in the same area.

NE has two warehouses, one in NJ and one in CA. I think it's just a standard message they sent out about shipping and tracking number. For me that email almost always comes later than the website.

I've seen posts that indicate Newegg says what you got billed in the invoice is all you'll pay because they have built into the shipping charge all the costs, including brokerage fees, etc. So I really am interested in whether you can verify this when the package arrives.

Got this encouraging reply on a Canuck forum I frequent.

You will never pay UPS brokerage fees on anything bought from NewEgg Canada - guaranteed. I've already bought 4 things from them in the last week, 2 shipments came from NJ, one from Minneapolis, and one from Calif. - they were delivered exactly like UPS had delivered them from across town - delivery guy shows up with his tablet, has me sign the line, hands me the box, walks away. No fees, no costs, nothing - but that's why even small items have shipping costs like $15-$16.

Too bad newegg.ca's pricing isn't even competitive, and the huge shipping costs kills any savings you may have had. NCIX looks much better in comparison. Newegg really botched the launch.

More encouraging info I got.

It's a pre-cleared drop shipment. Newegg doesn't have a shipping warehouse in Canada, but they do have a business number and are a "Non-Resident Importer". Your order is placed through the Canadian office. They do a pre-cleared drop shipment from the warehouse in the US - all duties, taxes, etc. are processed as if the shipment was from "Newegg US to Newegg Canada" - and are charged to the Newegg business number - while the package actually goes to your location.

UPS will just charge standard shipping fees to Newegg, and a small "handling" fee for processing the parcels at customs. Want to know more read here:

This used to be something I did regularly - but on the Canadian side as an importer - I got an "RM" number (it looks just like a GST number but ends in RM0001 instead of RT0001) -- when I was having things sent from suppliers in the US I supplied that RM number and whoever the carrier was, they would just give customs the invoice and my RM number. I would then be "obliged" to file RM returns to Canada Customs and make estimated payments and essentially a tax return annually to pay for imports.

This essentially lets Newegg use whichever shipper gave them the lowest rates and best terms, and your shipping fees are still manageable and similar to if you bought from a Canadian located retail business. You don't get "UPS-raped".
