Had an 04 Titan since new, with 190k miles on it and it decided to crack a ring. 6 qts of oil a week blowing through it. Time for a new truck. Went to Carmax to just get a feel for different trucks and prices. Its almost impossible to find a vehicle there with less than 30k on the odometer, but I feel I got lucky. The night before they got in a '12 F150 Lariat Supercrew fully loaded, 2wd with a grand total of 6k miles on it. They had it stickered for 33k which of course they wouldnt budge on. I decided to see what they would give me for my Titan and was very surprised when they said 3k. I basically got a 45-50k truck for right at 30. It is practically brand new, without a single scuff mark on it. It has the Ecoboost engine and heavy duty tow package, cow parts everywhere. A hard, paint matched Tonneau cover, the works. Rides like a dream too.

Never bought a vehicle with all the crap on it like this truck. All my vehicles in the past were stripper models including my Titan XE and my 04 Honda Odyssey EX or whatever the base model was. I figured what the hell, if I keep it for 10 years like the Titan, I will enjoy it.

Peace

Way to get your money out of the Titan; figure $200 a mo.

Why trucks if you don't mind me asking?

I have two young kids that necessitated a rear seat and the 4 door setup is ideal for us as a family.. Ive also owned a truck for the past 20 years and I couldnt see myself going back into a car. I get a lot of use out of it, mostly hauling crap from the house to the dump, getting stuff like wood, garage doors, home supplies etc. from Home Depot. Things I couldnt do with a car. Now with the ability to tow 11,300 lbs, Im going to start looking for a wife who will let me get something that big to tow. :)

Well I was alluding to an SUV; I stand by my dictum that some 95% of people driving trucks have no need to drive a trunk. Honestly the usual response is what you put forth: twice a year i have to help my friends move couches or put some other things in the usually-empty bed, so that's why i *need* a truck.

Unless you live on a farm/are a contractor where vast majority of the stuff going in the back is messy, there's no point in owning one. You're sacrificing 50% of your covered trunk capacity, ride (leaf springs in the back) and interior quality for nothing.

I own a van already and I haul a good bit of stuff in my truck that I wouldnt ever consider putting in my van. Also this truck came with a hard tonneau cover, so I dont lose any trunk capacity, plus the interior of this particular truck would rival a Caddy or Lincoln any day, leather from front to back. As for the ride, yeah the leaf springs are a bit jouncy, so I lose there. But i really get the best of both worlds. I have a luxury car interior mated to a pickup truck. Works for me.

And usually the 95% that say this have never owned a truck or lived in an area where one was needed.

Do you personally floor your car around every corner and cruise the freeway at 130mph? No? So why do you need a 400hp sports car when 99.9%of the driving you do could be accomplished with a hybrid Camry?

What about people like him or me(big SUV in my case) that just enjoy owning and driving trucks? Since when does need come into it? No needs a Corvette either but folks enjoy them.

Good looking truck OP. Once you get used to the sync you'll really like it.

Btw 33k for that truck was fantastic. I sold my 11 lariat with 27k miles and the 5.0 back to the dealership for 27k. Im sure they resold it for probably 33k without an issue.

Yeah, the Sync seems cool. Got phonebook downloaded and able to use the voice commands for the phone. The one drawback to a place like Carmax is that when they get a new vehicle in, they are clueless as to its overall features, somyou are on your own with the universal Ford manual. To me its just fun every day finding out different things on the truck.

Appreciate the props. Absolutely love the truck!

I've got the 2012 FX2 loaded much the same. I see you have the locking diff too. Nice find... I think the price could have been better but still not terrible at all.

That's funny... I feel that way about SUVs. I've had two, a Cherokee and a Grand Cherokee, but if I got another truck it would be an actual truck rather than an SUV because you get much more utility. All you lose is enclosed cargo capacity, and not if you get a camper shell.

halik is arguing for an SUV, not for a car
