Yesterday he (my son) was in the backyard playing and he ran to get me. He told me the neighbors dog was in the deep end of the pool (inground) and struggling.
By the time I get there the dog (a young beagle/basset hound dog) was going under. I grabbed it by its "Scruff?" as it's face disappeared into the green/black water (it turns that way every winter because they don't cover it and just drain and fill in the summer).
I'm just glad I got to him before I lost sight of him. If I would have had to dive in that sh1t I'd have never been able to see him. And dayum, that water was cold. The neighbors weren't home (see what happens when you go to church!) so we took him inside our house to dry him off and warm him up.
My sons second good deed: We went Christmas shopping at Sams. We pass the video games and as usual my son wants one but accepts his resigned fate.
After shopping and loading up the truck I ask my son to put the cart in the "Cart return". I watch as he takes the buggy full blast towards the other carts. There's a loud crash and I see something fly up in the air. "Oh great.", I think to myself, he broke something. He picks it up and walks over to show me the exact gamecube game he asked for inside.
I ask him what we should do (thinking the Gods have surely smiled upon him<__Insert sarcasm) and he says "Well we gotta take it back, it's not ours.".
He did really hope that they (Customer Service) would give him the game as reward for his good deed.
Couldn't be prouder of him now if I tried.
Cliffs:
Son sees dog drowning, we rescue it
Son finds free video game and returns it
