So, my son had to do a school project

JulesMaximus

No Lifer
He had to pick a person off a list of Great Americans to do a report on. Well, Micheal J Fox was on the list.

I don't now who picked the people on that list but last I checked Michael J Fox is a Canadian who holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada. Maybe they meant Great North Americans?

Anyway, my son picked him and he got an 88 on his project. 😛

He's on the "great" list because of his activism about parkinson's. My kids' school had him on those lists too. Agree about the Canadian question.

He only got an 88 on the report? What, did you make him actually do the work himself? Aren't reports these days supposed to be done by mom/dad on the office publishing system complete with animation, etc?

If he's a naturalized citizen, then he's an American. What's the big deal?

He's also not a Great American, but hey we're America and if you have a disease then you are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

At least the school administrators here have a sense of humor. 😀

88 mph?

You must not be an Asian parent - wouldn't 88 fall into the "you're gonna get your ass beat, why you so stupid?!" territory?

I did mine on Benjamin Franklin...man times have changed.

Did you make sure to tell everyone how much of a playa that man was? Because the ladies loved him, and he loved many a lady.

I have to make sure everyone knows about my uncle. Also, my potentially black cousins. Still working to decipher that one...

Of course. Nobody shows up at my work place to do my work for me.

man I'm torn here. I really like MJF. Family Ties was one of my favorite shows growing up. Then I watched his career take off after that. He always kept his nose clean and seemed to be a really great person. Then he got sick. He put his pride aside and was still in the public eye even though his appearance had gone downhill badly. He is a great person. He would be on my short list of great living Americans.

But to compare him to the Founding Fathers, Lincoln or even MLK just wouldn't be right.

But I guess times have changed. Glad your kid did well.
