So my front tooth fell out

I had a root canal done all one of the teeth close to my front teeth. Anyways, I was eating a now and later (yes this is idiotic), and the tooth broke =(. I had a crown on the tooth, but not a silver crown, it pretty much looked like my real teeth.

Question is, I gotta call the dentist tomorrow morning, are they gonna be able to patch this thing up in a day? Or is this gonna take some time? I don't wanna go walking around with a gap in the front of my mouth

Update!

The doctor didn't charge me any. It was a front tooth and it was already a porcelein crown (these things are pretty expensive). They took my current crown, emptied the inside of my tooth (inside the gums?), put some metal pins looking stuff in there. Then they emptied out the porcelein tooth, and stuck it in. Holy cow my gums are sore T_T

Might have to wear one of those retainers with a fake tooth on there. You can't get those in a day either though.

Well there was one moment that my mom's front tooth broke off. She was able to fix it by inserting an artificial tooth by the dentist. It looked like it never happened.

The retainer thing crossed my mind, but figured that it would take longer then a day. So i'm thinking that I might have to go a day with this gap in my mouth. Holy fsck, I'm usually not one for appearence, but this is just bad. I look like a fscking hick, and the worst part is, i live in alabama. At least my classes are cancelled tomorrow, FSCK!!!!

yea, I figured that it'll be an artificial tooth. But those usually take longer then a day? I know that for them to give my the crown, it took em like a week to get in. They had to order it or something. I just wanna know if i'll be able to get a temp fix on this tomorrow, or later this morning

Went thru something similar this spring...Tood about a week for the "flipper" as the dentist called it...In the mean time, take a part-time job as a Wal-Mart greeter...

It depends on whether the crown came loose or the actual tooth broke.
If the crown came looose, they'll stick back on there and then. 10 mins.

if the tooth broke they'll likely temporarily stick the tooth back together and take a mould so that they can have an idea of sizes. Next up, they'll have to rebuild the base that the crown will sit upon. This likely will be built up with a couple of pins drilled into the remaining root of the tooth, then built up with filling material in order to provide a decent base for the crown to sit on. A new ceramic (tooth-coloured) crown will then have to be built in the lab using the mold of your mouth with the old crown in, and the mould of the new base.
Whislt you're waiting for the new crown, they'll be able to put a temporary 'plastic' tooth in which'll look OK for a while.

A cheap alternative to the above would be to take your current crown, remove any reminants of tooth/filling material/etc from it, slap a couple of pins into the remainder of your actual tooth for grip, then fill the crown with filling material, slap it in place, cut away the excess, wait for it to dry, slap your ass and send you on your way.

My grandma got a tooth replaced with a titanium post drilled into the jaw with a fake tooth on it. It doesn't come out and I can't tell its fake.

where did they tell you your crown would last forever?

my dentist and orthadontist told me that. My front left tooth is a crown.

additionally, a friend of mine had a crown break and they did it for free because they are supposed to last forever. "As good as real teeth" anyways.
