Nope

edit: Wait, I think I remember hearing something about Zelda being in widescreen on the Wii but 4:3 on the Gamecube. So, yeah I guess.

Speaking of booth babes I think this game developer qualifies as one. Text

Edit: Bah...scroll over the the assasians creed interview with Jade Raymond.

I guess you guys haven't been looking at ANY of the pics from E3...the Wii consoles are definitely being demoed on flat panels...

Just finished watching Nintendo's keynote speech and man am I impressed. I haven't wanted a console enough to buy it on release day since the Dreamcast. Definitely looking forward to the Wii.

I agree. MS came out with a system that is just as good as PS3 a year earlier and for $200 cheaper. Also the game developers like 360 better because its easier to program for. MS

which is the reverse of how ps1+2 and xbox were...

The digital output issue for the HD-DVD 360 attachment is very troubling

I'm definitely thinking that there will be a HDMI cable for the 360 released at the same time and/or bundled with HD-DVD drive. That's the only thing that makes sense unless MS is planning a huge screwup.

From everything I have read, the 360 does not output a digital signal from the current connection.

What are the possibilities

HDMI is not possible with current versions of the console.
A software upgrade can enable it? If so why isn't digital output already enabled?

The Wii will be the first console I've ever preordered.

I'll probably get a 360 when the price drops.

I doubt I'll get a PS3, since most of the games I play on it are either multi-system or ported in a year.

<shrugs> Dunno. Looking at the back of the 360 HD-DVD player though, the only way you'll see a HDMI connection is with a new cable. If MS doesn't sell a new cable, they've screwed their HD-DVD plans for the 360 IMHO.

This is the million dollar question, really. There's never been any absolute confirmation of the lack of digital output, but if it's there, why not release the DVI and HDMI cables from day one?

Conversely, it makes no sense for Microsoft to have omitted a digital video out. Every modern graphics card has digital transmitters onboard, so it would essentially be free from a design perspective - the work's already been done. The HDCP stuff isn't free, but if you're buying by the million, it can't really be that much money.

It is totally bizarre. No doubt about it.

And to think that 1 year ago at last year's E3, nobody could have imagined how much thing's could have changed for Nintendo. From what I remember, most people then were expecting this next console to be Nintendo's last non-portable console.

Yeah, if anything, I'm happy that this much anticipation by the public means I'll be able to play another new Nintendo console in 5 years. 🙂

Imagine a Golden Eye remake on the Wii with the new controller. Oh the possibilities!!! 😀

I'm actually wondering about FPSs on the Wii now after seeing how difficult it was to turn quickly in Red Steel.

The progression from Turok to Perfect Dark (n64 shooters) was amazing, I'm sure they'll perfect it before the end, that is if it's even all that flawed at launch...

Hilariously they ran at the same framerate. PD *might* have actually run worse than Turok in some instances. 😛

I'm glad nintendo dared to go farther than better graphics, and dared to revolutionize the controller again. Weren't they the first with the joystick on a gamepad design that is so common today?

To those who say the Wii has limited resolution because of lack of HD, It will run at 480P (DVD resolution), and support widescreen, and it has component cables.

To those talking about the ability to turn in Red steel, the problem lies with the bounding box that has been programmed, when you get outside that box you begin to turn. If they made it really small, having the cursor in the middle, people would be all over the place and it would make people dizzy because the controller is extremely sensitive. Over time they will shrink the bounding box, or you may be able to do it in game, but there is a learning curve on the Wii, and once everyone learns to use it, control will become more accurate, and more quick.

Heh... I'll have to check with a buddy of mine and see if his bet is still on. I think it was last year... he said that if Nintendo releases another console after this one, he'll buy it for me. At that point, he was pretty sure this would be it for them, and I disagreed.

I really don't have a problem with the PS3 controller. The Dual Shock / Dual Shock II / PS3 controller is probably my favorite of all-time.

But the Wii's controller and style of play is much more fun!

Live is the only service out right now 😵 Hold your judgement until all 3 systems are out

Why was everyone expecting the PS3 to be so great anyways?

Blu-Ray, 1080P, Cell Processor, etc.

The Cell is nothing but mombo-jombo. 360 will get HD-DVD for a $100 premium, still cheaper than PS3. So 1080P might be the only thing it has going for it. And how many millions of people have TVs capable of 1080P? At least 75% of the population in the US right?

No, if you buy the HD-DVD attachment then the 360 costs as much as the PS3
