Sounds like standard policy to me, too. We block what we can and have policies pretty much just like your, except we have no IM at all (I've thought about setting up an internal messaging server though).

I only post on ATF because it's "work related" 😉 Well, most times it is 🙂

Officially that is our policy but we aren't too tough when it comes to abuse. No IMs nor streaming media, though.

Someone had 22 hours of surfing last week, all we did was block the one site that was being visited.

22 hours from the same person? That is one way to spend a 40 hr work week.

ha, yeah we one instance show up of a user surfing for like 6 hours in one day on a not-even-remotely-work-related site. We just blocked that site.

We hardly ever do any monitoring since I work at a College. It may get to that at some point. Dont even have a password on my computer. We use passwords for Work related systems, but not for PC's. Nothing is really considered private when you work for someone else.

Man, it would be tough, tough for me if my work had that policy. I do desktop support, but if there are no tickets in my queue, or I'm waiting for calls back from users, there is nothing to do. So I surf the web.

I'm sure a few of those hours are from having the website up in the background while he worked on something else, but that's still a LOT.
