I feel sorry for C.E.O then, who does he eat lunch with?

Kidding aside, wouldn't the ideal leader be someone who is approachable and personable? You would think someone would move further along on the corp. ladder if they provide those type of qualities. Yes, no? or Maybe the older companies are still indoctrinated with older corp. philosophies where leaders are suppose to separate himself from the rest of the crowd so he can appear head and shoulder above others?

I've worked for people who have the attitude that spidey07 describes, and they are almost universally despised by the people under them.

It's all just a game, just have to learn how to play it to move forward.

The only thing that matters is whether you have a door, a window or a secretary. Everything else is trivial.

Define "better area".

Also, you're aware that it costs companies between $500 and $1,000 for each employee that is moved from one cubicle to another, right? Unless you can present a case where your productivity will go up by enough to offset the cost of the move, it's not likely to happen (unless another team needs your current space and they show a solid case for it).

Just giving you some additional information.

Do you literally mean 2 square feet (as in, you either measured both spaces or found a blueprint and did a literal comparison)? Or are you just using "2 square feet" as an expression to convey that the new office is only slightly smaller than the old one?

Call me suspicious, but I'm betting that you didn't actually do a literal comparison... Which means the difference may be more significant than you realize. Also, the layout of the new office may not be as convenient to your boss as the old one. Space isn't the only thing that matters.

Man, you guy talking about moving a group around is easy or free. It costs a lot. Thing you have to deal - phone number/voice mail. Business cards. Mail Box. Down time if someone has to move those computers or hire someone to do it at night. Then HR has to update their system with all the new info since company like to know where all their people sit.
