all i have is a zalman vf900 al/cu and my basement is pretty cold to begin with. But still- 24C??? Im not complaining, but that seams verry low, considering most cards idle in the 40's

Umm...Maybe cause the basement is cold ? Do you have intake fans ?

Was this thread even necessary? The reason for the lower than average temp seems pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain.

The real question is was your post necessary? Does it contribute to this thread at all?

To the OP, those temps sound right to me. My 6600GT with a Zalman VF700 would idle ~35-40C and load ~60C in summer conditions, so with a better cooler (VF900) and winter/basement ambient temperatures, I'd say you're just right.

My dad's 6600GT with stock fan (Leadtek) Idles around 33C in the winter and 39C in the summer - I can imagine with a decent cooler/heatsink in cold conditons could get those low values.

My 7800gs with maximum overclock idles at 40c in the winter (Now) and 44 in the summer. Do you have an air conditioning unit hooked up to your case?;)

Even my x1900gt with an x2 - idles in the high 30's in a cool room. The x800xtpe with a zalman was high 20's in a cool room.

Damn if there was a rep count, i would given you one for that.

Its the zalman cooler giving you the low digits, and its really good to have your GPU at a low temp level. My 6800GT with NV5 silencer is idling around 46C, and its summer right now so the room temps are pretty high. But funny thing is that it never goes over 54C.

My 6600gt idles at 38c. Stock cooler.

BTW I need to restore my 6600gt back to all default settings? How can I do that? I accidently set it so it thinks the dvi output is going to a hdtv so I can't get it to display. ugh.

Also, only when the desktop first loads or when shutting down I get a window saying the card doesn't have sufficient power. I only have a 250watt psu. Is that enough? I was using the power for the floppy drive at first but then just switched to the rom drives increase the former didn't have enough power. But it still pops up. Anyway to check voltage? My dvm is at work till tuesday. :(

I do and it works at least as good as water cooling but it's a little noisy. My X2 4800+ overclocked to 2.7Ghz at 1.5v idles at 27C and my 2 512MB GeForce 7950GTs idle at around 38C and 47C under load.:)
