Max Payne 2 looks awesome. And if it is even half as good as the first one it will be great(lets hope it is better than half as good tho). But does anyone know anything about the story line?
thanks,

...According to Sam Lake, lead writer on both Max Payne and the sequel. "The script for the sequel is three times as big as the original. It's going to be a much deeper game and we're taking a big risk by putting him in a love story this time around. In the original we kept the story seperate so that you could blast through the game even if you didn't want to spend time with the graphic novel but this time around we're working hard to incorporate the story into the game."

Subtitled The Fall Of Max Payne, the title hints at another playful feel-good romp through the streets of New York, although it's also set in New York in the fall (read autumn), so the title isn't necessarily as dark as it sounds. Set a year after the end of the first game (all the characters that were lucky enough to survive the original are back for the sequel), the story starts with Max back in uniform, but once again standing accused of killing his former partner. Instead of shruging it off, he confesses to the murder, which sets up the whole film-noir love angle. But don't worry, Remedy hasn't gone soft on you. According to Sam Lake, The Fall Of Max Payne is "dark, tragic and violent, and mostly in Bullet-Time of course. Love hurts, and you just know there isn't going to be a happy ending? Or is there?"

😕

I thought the first one was pretty good. I really liked the bullet time, but the cheezy dialogue could go as far as I am concerned.

Cheesy or not, that game had better writing than a lot of stupid TV shows I've seen. Some of the imagery and metaphors were wonderfully executed. Great game, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Who had the quote in their sig?

"I don't know about Angels, but it's fear that gives men wings."

I'm betting it will go like this:
1. someone does something to piss him off
2. he goes out to kill them

With that kind of description, I could definitely predict it.

1. guy reacts fast
2. guy kills a lot of people

I don't care about the story really, just as long as they don't have those god aweful dream sequences in the game again. God those sucked a fatty.

I agree. It is refreshing, if you ask me, to have a game where intelligence went into the storyline.

Yeah, it can be had for cheap now. Definatly worth playing.

Yes, the dream stages sucked hard.

Shallow? I didnt think the first one was shallow. Did you watch the graphic novel?

The graphic novel was a artsy wrapper around a pretty cliched and shallow storyline. Supercop's wife killed, supercop goes vigilante on their asses. Sure there were some twists here and there but it really just boiled down to that. Not that I minded it - I think it's cliched storyline and cheesiness was intentional and added to the character of the game.

no matter what you think of the story the gameplay was kick ass. I think its still better than the gameplay in enter the matrix.
