Sounds like Elvis will truly have a blue, blue blue blue Christmas. 🙂

Mariah Carey = t3h hotness

God, like 10 years ago I so had a crush on her...she's still really dang hot, but back then you just couldn't find anyone better looking in the industry.

She's working it - she's got the 5th downloaded song right now on iTunes right now, the largest indicator of digital sales (it's been climbing everyday on the chart - I expect her to have at least the third most downloaded song by next tuesday (the end of the chart week)). She's gonna be all over the news next week again, I'm telling ya 😛

This week her new song will help. The new Billboard chart is calculated using a ratio of airplay amounts and song sales/downloads. Her current song (Don't Forget About Us) is the most played song on radio right now, and her digital single drops this week - which will push her into the #1 song slot next week.

It kind of boggles the mind - that Mariah Carey will have as many #1 songs as the King of Rock and Roll 😱 Even more staggering - she wrote and co-produced EVERY one of those songs, sans her cover of the Jackson 5's "I'l Be There". People paint her as a slut, and idiot - but she knows what sells and what doesn't, and to do it herself is

What about "I Can't Live if Living is Without You?"
Did that not make it to #1?

MC used to be attactive, now she tries WAAY to hard and she doesnt have to because she is naturally pretty.

Music sucks today whereas back when Elvis was putting out records the talent and competition was greater. I think her matching Elvis in terms of most #1s is meaningless.

No - the highest position "Without You" made it to was #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Not bad for a cover song.

Odd... I heard that WAY more than I heard "I'll Be There."

You probably did - the chart used a different methodology prior to 1999, where sales made up half of a songs position on the chart, half was how much if was played on the radio. With the waining cd single market in the late 90's, Billboard adjusted the ratio to a 30/60 split (IIRC) with radio having more of an impact on a songs position. That said - "Without You" could have had greater radio play, yet smaller sales where "I'll Be There" had decent radio play with awesome sales.

i was going to come in and post the exact same thing. heck lets not forget that mariah is only princess to the queen of high notes, minnie riperton. mariah may hit higher notes, but minnie in my opinion paved the way for her.

I dont' deny that - hell, even Mariah pay homage to her in a song she did called "Bliss". Here's a random clip - you can hear it in the third song 🙂. IMHO - she comes together and combines all of the best techniques into one palatable mix.
