Yes, Ice Cream Sandwich. You know, that Android version that came out back in 2011. Not JB. That would be preposterous.

I'm amazed it took so long and even more amazed that they actually released it in the end... Two Android versions and one year later...

First it was going to come out in Q2, then not at all, then Q3, then only in Sourth Korea.

Needless to say, my next phone won't be LG, even if it's branded "Google Nexus". I have zero faith in this company. The new official ROM works OK, but there are some major bugs that shouldn't be in an official ROM. For example, the phone hangs if you plug it in with the screen turned off, requiring you to pull the battery.

And no, you couldn't just use CyanogenMod instead. Without an official ICS release with the required sources and drivers, it was impossible for the third party ROM community to provide a working ROM.

LG is improving a little.

They swear on their life that JB will be released for my Optimus G at least by Q1. I'm somewhat optimistic as I believe it's being released for the Korean version this month.

Will be interesting to see how that goes. The Optimus 2X has been a nightmare in terms of software upgrades and left me disillusioned with Android in general. It didn't actually get Gingerbread until November 2011 (Gingerbread was released at the end of 2010). That upgrade was also pushed forward several times throughout 2011. Then the same story repeated with ICS in 2012. It feels like all the time I've owned this phone, I've spent waiting for LG to release updates. A real shame because their hardware is quite solid.

It seems to take them about a year to get a new Android version working on their handsets.
