Awesome, I gotta get me somthing like that, those SKS's rock. I'd love to have an authentic M1 Gaurand....

I have two M1s and a Springfield 03A3. Only about 30% of my collection is pictured, leaving out my US rifles, Mosin Nagants, and the bulk of my Enfields.

Yugo SKS's are dirt cheap currently.

Really? I would love to add a Yugoslavian SKS to my collection.

you can usually find them anywhere from 100-150 depending on condition at the distribs

Holy CRAP! Thats great for the $$$. I'm definetly going to have to look into one of those. I'm in the Peoples' Republic of NJ though, I may not be allowed to buy from an internet dealer. Maybe I'll take a ride to the local gun dealer tomorrow.

Note: I only carry ONE of the lights shown in this pic, whichever one I feel like at the moment.

Level1

Level II: At work, day trip somewhere but not too far from home etc, keep in car when going to mall or resaurant etc.

Level2

Level III: When it hits the fan, Katrina style disaster, terrorist attack, Hillary becomes president, etc. ;)

Level3

the dealer can order one for you + whatever he charges for the ffl transfer paperwork, usually $20-$30 most places

you might also consider applying for a 03 FFL (Curio and Relic) license. Any gun 50+ years old or on a special list is eligable. cuts out the dealer and you can save the transfer fee.

To those who carry - has carrying a gun around with you proved to be valuable for you personally?

Here are my carry/daily use firearms. I carry the shotgun and the rifle in my vehicle wherever I go, and one of the two handguns is with me 100% of the time, just depends on what I feel like carrying. The rifle is a Bushy M4gery with aftermarket flash supressor, handguards, vertical foregrip, and flashlight with pressure-activated switch. The handguns are a Glock19 and a 1911a1, and the shotgun is a Mossberg 500 special purpose.

Carry Weapons

I also have a large Camelbak that is set up as my bug-out bag. There are 10 extra AR mags, 20 rounds of 00 Buck for the shotgun, and 200 rounds of both 9mm and .45 in the bag. I also include 5 MRE's, my knife (not shown), spare surefire batteries, my surefire E2D, a leatherman, and some cash. I also keep another 10 AR mags and some extra buckshot in the trunk of my car or the backseat of my pickup, where I have the rifle and the shotgun stashed, just in case. I carry the stuff with me wherever I go just in case - zombie invasions, disaster, social unrest, liberal in the white house, etc.

I have many other handguns and rifles and whatnot, but these are the chosen ones to take the abuse and torture of getting carried around all day.

So what do you do?

I work in IT (Wireless Network Engineer).

I would rather have and not need all that stuff than need it and not have it.

WTF could you POSSIBLY need that much firepower for? Are you fighting off a Russian Armored division or something? I would say a .45 is PLENTY for self-defense.

So says you. I will carry whatever I want, wherever I want, whenever I want. It's this little thing called freedom.

Haha are you one of those guys that pretend to be in armed forces? Ya know, running around in BDUs on daily basis?

Yes, it's called peace of mind.

You know what I mean. Besides making you feel good about yourself, has it ever been of more use than, say, a nice rock in your pocket.

It has nothing to do with "feeling good about yourself". And rock? I don't know what weapons you've had experience with, but I can barely tell that I have one on me (and neither can anyone else for that matter). No, I've never had to use it. Not that it's a bad thing.. because the day I do have to pull it, it will also get fired. I don't carry a weapon for an e-penis, it's for self defense.

All this armory (food procurement) and no way('s) to start a fire........ Have fun eating cold, raw meat and dying from some waterborn disease.

I would recomend a magnesium firestarter

like this

I check out threads like this to see if I can include anything or get any new ideas for things to include. btw, where did the OP get that 2x123 holder at????

It just seems to be an antiquated notion that you would need to walk around with a gun for self defense. Maybe where you and I live things are very different, but where from my perspective where I live it would be unnecessary. Some people might have other experiences but even you admit you have never had the need for one. Do you personally know anyone who has?

So following your logic, if you've never gotten a flat, why drive around with a spare tire in your car? It's called being prepared. By no means do I live in some gang-bangin Compton-esque area, but I've had enough close calls to warrant a self defense weapon as far as I'm concerned.

My parents have a whole room full of canned food, two huge barrels of treated water in their garage, a shotgun, a rifle (my brother's), a few battery-powered radios, walkie talkies, flashlights, a first-aid kit that takes up three plastic containers, propane and various grills, big pile of chopped wood, wood burning stove, camping gear... EDIT: Oh, and a vegetable garden of course!

I'm pretty sure all you need for any sort of situation:

pocket knife
notepad
side-bag
1 or 2 hand guns
10ft bullwhip
leather jacket
fedora

You should be able to take out an army of nazis, zombies, or whatever else comes your way.

You should probably have a copy of the Army Field Manual, "Survival, Evasion and Escape," in order to avoid capture by the Zombies.;)

I love how the 2nd Amendment doesn't exist to some people, or at least, they would rather ignore it.

I have a magnesium firestarter in the larger bag in the third photo. The 2x123 holder was made by a guy in the Dealers' Corner over at candlepowerforums.com I believe his handle is Litemania. Do a search for "Kydex holsters" over there and you'll find all sorts of stuff to empty your wallet!
