So let me get this straight: P4 533's still have to run w/400mhz system memory?

lol this is nutz!! So now the memory is asyncronis with the cpu fsb? I think now this 1.8a OC has been one of the niftyis things I have ever done now...comments or info please...?
 
I think you can use any mhz memory you want..if your motherboard suports changing the ratios/frequencyof the fsb/memory you can change them.
 
It sounds like Intel chose to put the old clock generators though on their new flagship 850e....I hope Asus et al continues using the new generators...

why would you be stuck at 400?
you get the new asus motherboard

and you overclock your 2.53 or 2.4 P4 533 to 2.8 and you get 3723
in sisoft memory - if your RDRAM can do it

2.4/533 on sale now here

2.53 due Wed.
 
Nice OC....wouldn't want to be running any 'mission critical' apps while running that rig but very impressive non-the-less 🙂
 
Well 850e does not offically support PC1066, but Intel is not going to prevent people from running their RAM at PC1066. Even their own D850EMV2 can run at PC1066, because Anand did. I just thought I'd add Fkloster, even at PC1066+533fsb, they are not in sync. PC1066 runs at 533Mhz DDR, meanwhile the front side bus runs at 133MHz QDR, the system isn't going to care that the "effective" speed of the fsb is 533MHz. This is why you still have to use 4x RDRAM-fsb multiplier.

i never thought i'd be spending $600 for a cpu in 2002, but i guess i was wrong - heh heh
 
i read yesterday that ati and sis are the only others besides intel with a license to sell the new ich4 generators and the only thing i've found out so far is the asus p4t533 is due out shortly as is the pc4200 aka pc 1066 rdram but no dates on when or if ich4 will be on the asus mobo so i guess im waiting on those and will use old parts for now lol

but if this takes too long then ddr hmm...

Wolf...did you read my post in your thread? Did you click the link? Asus puts the new clock generators on their P4T-E and it can be purchased from Atacom...
 
yes flockster that board is in transit 3 day delivery as of this afternoon lol

1) Asus P4T-E retail w/rdram turbo mode & w/new ICS clock generators (latest revision).... ATACOM: $174.95

oops that one is out of stock so i paid 5.00 more for with audio and will disable the audio in bios

19 X 158 = 3002
so you will need to get a 25 mhz bus O/C - the mem is no prob with dividers, but I dont know how the
asus p4T bios options will handle the pci bus
however, i will soon find out
perhaps i will have to change over to Abit board with its "fixed" pci/agp
what i did imply by the link, THW could only get to 148 fsb apparently with their supplied cpu's - but YMMV
from what I recall, the P4/533 still has same B0 stepping

Is Abit going to be putting out a new board like Asus?
 

just noticed THW used a 1:1 memory setting
148 times 4 = 592

3:4 setting at 158 bus should go 3GHZ if the ram is the limiting factor

158/4=39.5 times 3 = 118.5 times 4 = 474 RDRAM

prob wont get as big mem benches but who knows

Remember - all this at a top temp of 49 degrees STOCK HSF!!!!
 
as far as i have heard most are waiting to see if demand is there before investing in such a small market
but should follow suit tex
