so Kaspersky anti-virus screwed my computer

I uninstall the software because the trail license expire. Now, I can't use WinXP's search program. I go to start/search/for files and folders and get this. I am for sure Kaspersky is behind this because everytime I reinstall it, the Search options go back to normal. Did anyone have this problem or know how I can fix it?

Maybe I can contact the developer for compensation

I suggest:

1.) If you have a Windows CD, go to start -> run -> 'sfc /scannow'. This will run a System File Checker scan, which looks for missing windows files. If the anti-virus accidently damaged a system file (which is what it looks like) during the uninstall process, this will repair it.
2.) Try upgrading to SP2 if you have not already. Installing windows updates can sometimes resolve these issues.

I just did that sfc /scannow just for the hell of it and it poped up like a million times (since I hit cancel on all of them since I don't feel like looking for my Windows XP CD.

The congrats, you found your problem

Now just get a windows CD of the same version (Home/Pro) that you have and run the scan again. This should fix your problems.

The congrats, you found your problem

Now just get a windows CD of the same version (Home/Pro) that you have and run the scan again. This should fix your problems.

There's only one problem, I'm not the OP. I ran it for the hell of it and found problems, and I have no idea whether the OP ran it yet.
