The question is how well will it do in following weekends as sustainability compared to Over the Hedge and MI3?

Doubt it. The criticism brought more publicity to the movie, and adding in what they've said encouraged people to see it, even if that wasn't their intention.

I'm just glad it beat the crap out of MI:III!

Any particular reason?

$cientology support lol

MI 3 is pretty awesome. I don't support scientology though. Just because an actor in a movie believes in a certain religion doesn't mean I should use it as an excuse to not watch the movie.

What you're suggesting is akin to saying I won't watch a movie cause the main actor is black or Islamic.

Given the amount of publicity that the contrivery created, it did well.
The church fanatics actually did themselves a dis-service just like what happend for the book.
Overseas the movie really pushed the barrier; I heard that it came it at a record #2 for a release.

The hype was better than the flick. I'd wait for the DVD if I could do it over.

Yep. Because crackhead Tom Cruise put pressure on Comedy Central to pull an episode (that basically beating down Scientology) by threatening that if they didn't pull the show he would not promote MI:III. Well since Paramount's parent company Viacom also owns CC, they didn't want anything to upset poor 'lil 'ol Tom because hurting Tom's feeling will also hurt their pocket book. Anyway, in the end CC pulled the episode. And to make matters even worse, Tom Cruise denied he even did that, and went on to say he's never heard of South Park. Yeah right.

Tom threatens CC

Are you saying that DVC was good? Have you read the book? I thought it was one of the most dull movies I've seen in a long time.
