So, I've decided I need a new hairstyle.

So I've pretty much had the same hairstyle for the last 6 or so years and I think it's time for a change. I just have absolutely no idea on what to get. I'm thinking about going into a Cost Cutters or the like and telling them to do what they think would look good, but the possibility of a nightmare haircut pushes me away every time.

Unfortunately I just don't have the right type of head/hair for a buzz cut or the like, so I can at least cross that off the list.

Has anyone ever asked their stylist to go crazy? Results?

I snapped a pic so you guys can see what it's like now. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just tell them to make it short, layered, over the ears, above the brow for the bangs, and trim the back 3in up square cut!

Serious.

But you could always go with a Flo-Bee!

Get a buzz cut anyways, or something else very short. Once you get used to your short hair look, you'll never want to go back!

I may actually do this but go rounded instead of square.

Can't =( My hair grows in different directions such that the last time I had a buzz cut there were very interesting patterns all along my head.

Best suggestion yet. The Flowbee is awesome. Ours has to be at least 15 years old and still works like new.

do like my son did over the weekend, grab some electric trimmers and go to town. he left it about 3/8'' long.

A few months ago I was walking down the street when I saw the greatest haircut I had ever seen. It was a thin stripe of hair along the top of the skull which tapered into a Kentucky waterfall at the back. Yes, it was a combination mohawk and mullet. It was spectacular. The crowning achievement was the transition. As you can imagine, transitioning from a narrow strip of hair to hair that completely wraps around the head should look incredibly awkward where it meets. But the barber, mystical wizard that he was, put in a great curve along both sides, which made it look almost like a Centurion helmet from ancient Rome. It was like Mr. T and Billy Ray Cyrus had been fused into one skinny redneck body. I saw it and I wept, for I knew no Earthly glory would ever compare.

You should get that.

You should get a high and tight, faded. Get a pissed off look too.

No reason to be crabby just because you don't get a choice. 😛

I would suggest getting getting rid of some of the extra hair on the sides of your head. Keep the texture and a bit of length on top. Use pomade to style.
