Ok, so I've been taking a one a day men's health.

Then I've been taking cod liver oil pills (megadoses in vitamin D and A).

Then I've been taking extra vitamin E in megadoses.

Then a large dose of vitamin C

Thought I'd feel better as my diet sucks - but - no - no different. . .

weird?

He is right, just popping pills won't help you. Exercises and diet will amplify your vitamin intakes, but supplements alone won't do much.

Megadosing fat soluble vitamins (Vit A,D,E,K) isn't something you should be doing assuming your body doesn't need such abnormal levels or you're severly deficient. They aren't flushed out of your body as easily as water soluble vitamins (B,C). Build up of fat soluble vitamins can lead to a number of side effects (though not nearly as bad, generally, as occurs due to deficiency).

If you're chronicly feeling sluggish or under the weather you should look at your diet first. If that doesn't help, see a doctor.

That said, I take a One-A-Day Essentials every morning, but I'm also highly active (sports, lifting, etc etc).

Same here... I've been taking vitamins for a month and also running/working out 3-5 times a week for 2 weeks, not much change. But i'm going to try and keep it up.

lol, you need to change your diet, start exercising regularly. These aren't magic pills that will make you super fit/healthy.

Also, you do realize that probably a good chunk of the vitamins in those pills get pissed away immediately right?

Vitamins don't make you feel "better" unless you're already feeling "worse" due to vitamin DEFICIENCY. Most people get (or should in any case) their RDA or damn close with a decent diet. Anyone that consumes dairy on a regular basis, for instance, probably gets their RDA+ of D and Calcium... maybe A too (low levels in dairy, like 10% per serving).

That's like drinking gasoline vs. drinking gasoline and eating vitamins...you're still going to feel like crap :D The poison has to be removed completely.

Number one rule of supplements, if you diet isn't in check then don't bother with supplements as they won't do anything.

Like everyone else has said, it is difficult to get hypervitaminosis on water-soluble vitamins (BC). You do, however, have to be careful fat-soluble vitamins (ADEK).

"Therefore many governmental agencies have set the tolerable upper intake level (UL) for vitamin D at 25 µg (1,000 IU)"

Have you factored in what you get from your diet? Or is that just what your supplements contain? If the later, and you consume any dairy, you're easily above 1,000 IU.
