In the morning I burn 500-700 calories....

Anyway, tonight I ate 3 slices of pizza, 3 Hot Wings, and a glass of soda.... I assume about 1000 calories...

plus with what I ate today, I probably took in like 2500 calories today.... i'm only supposed to take in a MAX of 1700.

So .... will I all of a sudden gain 5 pounds tomorrow because I did this? Or will my body not even notice it as long as I work out and go back to what I usually do?

It was my friends' party ... what can I say.

Just continue your routine, your body will probably like the extra dash of calories.

Some people subscribe to the theory that bumping up your calories by 400-700 one day a week, will actually help to speed up your metabolism.

dude...1300 calories is NOTHING. I probably eat at least 3000 a day when I'm working; any less and I'd have no energy. And believe me, I'm a skinny guy.

Are you female? If not I'd say 1300 is not really enough. I eat more than 2-3000 even when I'm not excersising.

The scale will bump up a couple lbs. tomorrow, but it is water wait and will come off within a few days. With the exercise you do, you shouldn't gain any fat...but you won't be losing any today either.

OMG you guys are starving your muscles. That sounds like too large a caloric deficit. I don't have my Carmichael book handy (Lance's coach) but IIRC he recommends a smaller daily deficit.

And to the OP, WTF are you nuts? You're on this lunatic diet without knowing basic facts? To gain five pounds you'd have to eat first enough calories to not have a deficit and then 17,500 (5 lb x 3,500 calorie/lb) more. So don't sweat it.

you need calories to function... sooner or later your body will start chewing away at your muscle when it needs energy. you're not losing "fat" weight, you're losing body mass! eat people, eat!

and i dont mean eat people. thats cannibalism, and thats just wrong.

I spent a month eating 1500 calories or less (3 meals a day 500 clas each meal) and jogging for 30 mins a day and lost 15 lbs in one month. Might be fast for some or slow for others but i think 1 lbs every 2 days is fast ;).

I went from 145 to 130 and been there for 6 months so far. BTW im 5'4 so i needed to lose some of that weight. I am thinking of either try to lose some more or start lifting weights.

You're crazy. I'm almost certain you're supposed to take in 2000 calories a day. At least for a man. Little people might require less. You can look up online how many calories you need a day to maintain your current weight. In my case, eating 2000 a day and exercise regularly is cutting weight the healthy way.

It won't kill you if you over indulge just this once as long as you stick with the program, think of it as a reward, your body won't really punish you much for it.

for my size (5'6), 1200 - 1400 calories a day isn't too little food

For breakfast I normally eat some toast with a piece of fruit. My lunches are normally a deli sandwich with more fruit and at dinner I eat some rice / pasta with a small piece of lean meat.

I don't remember exactly number, it might be complete bunk, and I can't recall where I've seen it mentioned (although it was in more than one place)...but IIRC, you can't lose more than maybe 3 or 4 lbs/wk without beginning to lose muscle mass instead of fat. Of course, a lot also depends on your body composition.

Even at 5'6", 1300 calories/day, especially when you're also running in the morning, is not much at all. Hell, I'd probably burn 1600-1700 by just lying in bed all day. And while my physique is probably different than yours, as others have mentioned, you don't want your caloric deficit to be too low. A few hundred/day max. Otherwise, your body's gonna head into starvation mode, and start eating away at muscle mass.

Your body won't know. I used to weight like 205 pounds. Then one summer I cut my calories way down and exercised a ton and lost 35 pounds in 3 months. That was almost 2 years ago... last summer I couldn't work out because of a couple injuries, but I still ate well. For the past 7 months I have been eating as much as I did before I started working out. Almost every day my stomach hurts from eating too much... but I haven't gained a single pound since.

Obviously this won't last forever... plus I'm getting to that age where your metabolism changes dramatically. All of the sudden one day I'll probably gain like 5 pounds overnight.
