A VW... Prepare to pay an annual "owners" fee of at least $4000 after the first 3 years.

Our VW is nothing but a money pit. I will never buy another German car EVAR!!!!!!

All of our friends who own them have had a similar experience.

Ugh. They look nice but so does Pamela Anderson. Nothing but trouble!

Well I'm not sure I'll still have it after 3-4 years. The folks over at VWVortex told me to get used to $75 oil changes. This is my first experience with a German car, and I've gotta say that so far the ride quality is very impressive. My dad's coworker drove us all to lunch in it and he said it reminded him of his old E-class from 5-6 years ago. I didn't take that as a complement, and I'm pretty sure the ride's firmer and sportier than that!

Where the hell do you get these good insurance rates? I freaking pay $1670 every 6 months!!! I'm a 22 male with one at-fault accident on my record. I'd kill for rates like that.

Probably sportier, but the Passat does not come with "sporty" suspension. The Passat is their Buick, I don't mind, mine soaks up the bumps nicely and still allows for fun. Although a new suspension is quite tempting which is said to make things much sportier, and depending on which one you get can still keep most of the OEM comfort. Anyways that is a convo for the Vortex or PassatWorld, I would suggest checking out PassatWorld if you haven't already, I hang out there a bit, nice bunch.

$75 Oil changes ... maybe, the stealership got me for $50 when I had them do it last, now I do my own which costs me $30 still for the oil and filter. I doubt you have much to worry about reliability wise, hell its brand new you have plenty of warranty, I wouldn't worry at all

Ouch. We just added the new elantra and the premium went up $330/6mo. I don't know how the fvck that works since my 99 neon I'm paying ~185 for just liability but I ain't asking questions. Over 25 and married FTW. (My rates dropped almost 50% last year when I turned 25, got married and all the speeding tickets when off my record)

Heehee... $800 a year for my 78 bus and my 84 Volvo and my wife.

:p

Well, if this is turning into a "brag about your insurance rate thread", I pay just over $1000 for a grand caravan, mercury sable, ford escort, and 190hp Glastron (boat)

Incidentally, in NY, you're not driving it home without it being registered. AND, you're not getting it registered without PROOF OF INSURANCE.

i wish you luck my friend...

I had 3 VW's (2000 Jetta, 2001.5 Passat, 2002 Passat), all of which gave me nothing but hell... Fun to drive and to look at, but unfortunately a combination of crappy build quality and horrid dealerships keeps me well away from them....

there's an apples to apples comparison...

I pay $100 a month for my '04 G35 Sedan and my condo insurance. Yah $680/6 seems high to me too. :p

this thread is so stupid with all the insurance rate bragging.

"wow! you pay that little? you must be such a genius to get such rate, but of course it has nothing to do with your car being a POS and you living in a buckfvck town in the middle of nowhere. good job!"
