soo whats a decent system to get? think i need everything but DVD drive heh.


and whats a good place to buy? besides newegg that is.
 
What is your budget and how will you use the machine? Will you seriously overclock? Do you have a camcorder?

gameing mainly. do not need monitor or speakers.

right now have a 3200+ witha 1gig of ram and a 9800 pro vcard.

just looking to be able to play games such as oblivion and such without running in the lowest setting.

If I were you, I'd base an upgrade system on the 2.93GHz Celeron D, with "E0" stepping. :thumbsup::laugh:

Not quite that random. If you have a camcorder, you'll need firewire in which case you'll likely want a board with onboard firewire given at most you now get 3 PCI slots.

Upgrade based on your current system (most important first):
1. Best graphics card available on AGP (x1950Pro)
2. A second gig of RAM
3. OC that CPU (2.4GHz is straightforward), or grab the cheapest (socket-compatible) X2

If you are thinking about a full system-build, then just look at any of dozens of "rate my build"/"buying parts for my new build" threads in GH.
