So I set up my router that a friend gave me and it was locked with a network key. So I reset the router and now its unsecured. I know you need to type something into the URL and go from there but I forgot how to do that.

Any help?

Please let it be known that I sort of need an idiots guide to from where I am now.

Thanks :)

there's either an ISP on the router itself, or you have to go to your own ISP. But I think the security factor has more to do with your router.

hope that helps

I don't have any idea what this really means....

But after the reset the router is a generic security. Assuming this, I would plug your computer into it and boot.

1. After it is finished booting, open a command line window. Type in IPconfig. The default gateway will be your router's internal IP. It will most likely look something like 192.168.x.1.
2. Type in that number into a address bar in your Web Browser.
3. Do the configuration over again.

Thanks a lot. :)

IPconfig was the step I was forgetting.
