Planet Earth is on sale big time on the discovery store web site. That's the main thing I've seen so far that warrants a purchase. Plus there's a coupon for $5 off floating around on deal sites.

black friday is especially weak this year, there is no deals at all if not for MS's generous cashback.

I'm gonna think about this for a little while - 2oz for $47, minus 30% off coupon code... isn't so bad. It's got some pretty damn good reviews too, and I'm young enough that it doesn't matter how old it is. Anyone have any opinions on it?

What made you go for that one over the 360?

screen size mostly 4.3" VS 3.5" 45.7% bigger screen area is a big plus.

multi point routing (again, appear to be spotty)

fm transmitter (though people said it's crap)

traffic receiver is built in

Finally ordered a Dell XPS 1330 with a free Magellan Roadmate 1400
XPS laptops are almost never on sale, so this was as good as it was going to get.

The only thing I've picked up today was a few shirts from oldnavy.com. They have a 20% off coupon plus a stackable free shipping coupon. Ended up with seven shirts for $30 shipped.

I don't know what you're talking about dude, the XPS ones have been on sale for the past 3 months.

If you're not on the mailing list maybe that's why you think they're never on sale.

If you spend upwards of $1299 - $1600 they are. But all of my configurations always end up lower than that.

I still have a couple bones to pick with Dell over my M1530. My advice for getting one of these is neeeever eeeeever choose a part listed with the brand name as "Dell". I did this with the network adapter since I didn't want Wireless N (had no real need for it... very unnerdy of me) and the wireless adapter is one of the worst aspects of my laptop (poor transfer rates over wired and wireless, poor connectivity, etc).

Yeah, that's kind of why I was looking to get it for my mom. It'd be nice to have a bigger screen as she's a bit older and such. Only thing that's kind of pushing me away is that she doesn't travel often, so she won't use it that much but she may get those few times a year when it comes in handy. My sister will be going away to college this year and my mom had fun driving up to Albany, which is where I got the idea from. But chances are, she may rarely need it. My car has built-in navigation and I know I barely use it and sometimes when I do use it, I don't really need it. But eh, I have no other decent gift ideas :p.

EDIT:

MotF, what accessories did you purchase with yours?

Oh come on now... I see links to deals. Deals being discussed etc etc... sounds exactly like another sub forum to me :)

Yeah I just rang up a pile of gifts for the kids (nothing to do with Cyber Monday). Too much in fact. Their shopping is DONE though damn it

Aikouka, I didn't buy any accessories for it. It's getting a six hour test drive back to MA for the holidays, at which point I'll see if anything is needed.

Edit:
This was pretty spontaneous. Parents planned to get me a GPS, I just saw this one with the bigger screen etc early this morning and went for it.
