What next, are parents and students going to start b*tchin that it to hot to go to work or school, and that work/school should be cancel for the day?

I have no trouble with them closeing schools when it is a windchill of -20 or worse.

but we are lucky. the bus stop is my driveway.

Every school in Pittsburgh is closed because of the coldness. It's retarded as everyone I know that is still in highschool is out with friends today. Some are going ice skating and skiing nonetheless.

We still had classes today (but they wouldn't close a university... that's the real world). I actually just got back from walking about 7 blocks from my one class and I swear I have frostbite on my face. It's so frickin windy here and that's what kills it.

Yeah, my mom's a teacher just down the road in East Liverpool and has been off work the past two days.

Not really any snowfall, just ungodly cold temperatures. Anyone else getting some extremely cold weather? BTW, I'm in the Lansing, MI area.

Im in South Bend, Indiana, school is closed yet again for us as well. Its 5 F here, with the windchill its -6 (yesterdays wind chill brought it to -25!)

I was just in Lansing last week for work. Very very cold up there. wow! I guess you just get used to it over time. I've always lived in Indiana except for a couple years in San Francisco, and this time of year I really miss the nicer weather.

My Grandfather worked for the city and was in charge of the school bus for a city of about 30000 people. maybe a little more. anyway, it was his decision if school would be closed or not due to the roads. in more than 20 years he never closed school even once. definitely harsh.

What's up with young people not wearing winter coats these days? It's not a new trend, as I've seen it going on for a number of years now.

The wife and I went out for breakfast this past Saturday morning and this high-school aged girl comes in with just a shirt on. You can tell she was freezing cold. The temp was around 6 above.

I know that young people think they are invincible, but a minor traffic accident could cause a fatality when you're not dressed properly in this kind of weather.

WTF? They cancelled school because it was too cold? What grade are you in?

School is back in action today, heck I'm typing this from the comp lab. Anyways, I'm a senior, but the whole elementary, middle school, and high school were closed yesterday and Monday.

Edit1: O yea, and when I left this morning, it was only -1.

I'm in michigan as , port huron area. All the schools in our area are closed as well being due to it to cold out. I remember when I went to school, they never cancel school to being cold out. I just graduated highschool almost 5 years ago. What is today society coming to? The pussuication of america continues.

yep. I graduated HS in '99 and I dont recall school (HS, MS, ES) ever being closed because of the cold. For snow, yes, not for cold.

I recall having school close when the windchill dipped below -25F. That was always the standard in SE Michigan.

My old HS would only cancel school if there was 5 feet of snow or glare ice everywhere. Canceling because of the cold? Bah!

Wow, what a bunch of candyasses. Eight below is sweatshirt weather in Grand Forks. If it gets into the teens below you throw on a windbreaker and a hat. I could see if you were in like Arkansas or Missouri or something, but Michigan should be used to that.

Of course now I live in Portland, where they cancel school for a week and shut down the interstates for four inches of snow.

We are used to it here in Michigan, the snow and insane temperatures. It's just some schools don't want to roll up to the bus stop, and find a bunch of little kids all blue and frozen to death:roll:

I heard yesterday that Notre Dame cancelled classes Monday and Tuesday because it was too cold. They don't give us any breaks here at IU 🙁
