Reminds me... One of my former bosses decided one day that he wanted to live in Hawaii... so he packed up (wife & 3 kids too) and moved to the big island.

I was talking to him the other day... he's sitting in he backyard enjoying the sunset... 80 degrees and breezy while I'm staring out the patio door at snow and 18 degrees.

I hate him. lol :)

What are you doing in the barn for an hour? Here it's 13 and only -2 with wind chill, it must be windier over by you :)

I do enjoy a good winter storm although tonight was the worst I've seen it driving home since living here for a few years. Visibility and roads just terrible.

Feeding animals. The water buckets take quite a while when it's this cold - dragging them outside, dumping the ice and water out of them, breaking out any remaining ice, then refilling them. About 70 gallons of water and a couple hundred pounds of hay & grain. Plus I have one goat who is losing his hair, so I took an old sweater & made him a coat to wear; about an hour and a half last night. And an hour and a half tonight - it was 9 out, but not much wind. Thermal underwear FTMFW! (And last year, Kmart clearanced them for $1 a pair - I really stocked up!)

Til they die.
Lifespan is about 15 years. We haven't had any of that age. (Not that we haven't had goats die from other causes.)

I probably bought about 30 pairs; some for each son too, since they spend a lot of time outdoors. Up to 4 degrees now. With the very clear skies last night, it allowed a lot more radiation of heat, resulting in much cooler temperatures. Time to go dump out about 60 gallons of water & ice, and refill all the water buckets. Thankfully, my hose hasn't frozen up this year.

It's a balmy 19ºF here in the City of Brotherly Love. No snow yet, but it's in the forecast so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :awe:

Nice (absolute) answer! :p

So they are like dogs in life times. I understand they are quite intelligent and emotional. Probably not too popular in the home due to their hooves.

mid-teens here today... debating whether I want to even go outside. lol.

I don't really "need" anything from the outside world, but I hate spending all day in the same room.

We had 3 in the house last year after they were born. They ran around in diapers most of the time. It's actually a welcome sound - little clip-clop-clip-clop sounds. They're somewhat intelligent, probably not quite as intelligent as dogs; at least, smarter dogs. They definitely have individual personalities.

3 more weeks & the house potentially could start filling up with babies. Most likely, we'll have 4 or 5 nubian/myotonic crosses in the house, so that we can milk their moms for fudge & cheese.

we're looking at about 65 and breezy tomorrow here in CFL. Time to put on some SPF 8 and deepen the tan ...
