Well, it was beautiful day up here in the large outdoor freezer known as New England today, and for the first time in about a month and a half, it got above freezing...37F!

I took advantage of the "warm" temps, and broke out the hose and car wash bucket, washed the old girl and sprayed about eleventy beelion tons of salt and sand off my parking spaces.

I love the looks I get when I'm outside in a t-shirt and jeans washing my car the old fashioned way when it's only in the low 30's....heh.

Well, here's some pics to show how nasty the car had gotten since that blizzard last week dumped a couple of feet...

After #3

She cleaned up nice...:)

Hopefully it will stay moderately clean for a few days anyway...

I had them installed as a safety feature when I had the new hood put on. It latches the same way the factory hood does, but it's super light and it's possible it could fly up if the wind got up under it right. I also got them back when I used to show the car.

I always do spray under there, and once the winter is done I drive it through one of those automated car washes and get the super duper undercarriage treatment.

The salt has gotten to the metal around the wheel wells, and on the hatch, but the underneath of the car is still red with 0 rust. Not bad considering it's almost 13 years old and get's driven year round.

I'm going to wash the motor off tomorrow.

Quoted from your sig...........

OMG!!! OH NO! AIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! NOOOOOO!O!OO!O!!!!

Thats all I could say when I saw those first pictures :'(.

Looks much much better afterwards, I need to clean mine up. I am stuck in a difficult decision now as to if I want to keep the car or sell it. I have been thinking about it for several months. I havent driven, and before It goes back out on the road I would probally drop 10k into rebuilding the motor/new tranny.............

Everytime I see a nice looking 'stang like mine it makes me want to keep it more though :p.

Josh -

What year is yours, and does it need 10K of investment to get back on the road, or is that just what you are planning on putting into it if you keep it? I'm doing some general maintanence to mine this spring. I just picked up the "Ultra Clear" sidemarkers and parking lights, and I'm going to pick up the headlights soon.

I need some work done on the body around the wheel wells, and I might not bother getting the hatch fixed, and picking up a fiberglass hatch.

Thanks for the nice comments. I know it's not the most popular style anymore, but it's been so good to me for the last 12 years, and now that there aren't really many on the road anymore, it really stands out from the new cars.

In New England I would give that...maybe 3 days before it reverts to 50% of the first 3 pics. :( It's a shame too, you did a damn fine job.
The NE is murder on cars.

Yeah, NE is rough on cars, but I've been trying to keep it in good shape. She looks pretty good IMO for a car going on 13 years old. :)

It was always a bit scary driving it in the snow, especially with the car being moderately modified...until I finally bit the bullet and got four Blizzak WS-50's for it. I got four narrower than stock Blizzaks, and put them on my stock 16" x 7" "Pony" wheels. I picked up a set of 17" x 9" AT Italia rims with four 245/45ZR17 Dunlops SP8000's for the rest of the year. The Blizzaks made a night and day difference. It's actually quite good in the snow now, and I made it around no problem even when we had the 2 feet last week. You can still make it fishtail, but it's much harder to do with the Blizzaks, and it's very easy to steer out of it.

This is the car with the new rims..

Pardon the bad picture...
