I am finally in an apartment.... I never bought frozen food when I lived with my parents, but I am contemplating it now.

I have had Digorno's, its not bad, but it is pricey... I can get national brand pizza for similar pricing with coupons.

Is there anything that is pretty good quality? Quality is defintely more important than the price... although the money does play a factor. Any items some of the ATOT'ers buy all the time? I am afraid to just start buying randomly and eating using trial and error:eek:

totinos frozen pizzas cant beat it at $.99 a pop...tastes good too....

chicken breasts, soaked in salt water and then frozen are all so great

Oh yeah! Frozen chicken breasts that are individually frozen are great. That's what I have thawing for supper tonight!

I actually heard about those. Are they made by only Costco??? We dont have any here :(

We buy frozen fruit so we can mix it with alcohol and have a snack in between classes (my roomates love frozen fruit, she cant stop eating it!)

Keep the suggestions coming! I was looking more in the line of full meals, btw. Or at least the main course.

healthy choice is actually pretty damn tasty if you get the right stuff. it actually looks like food since they have to use higher quality bits to make it healty. claim jumper is pretty good, but expensive.

as for chicken i freeze my own, as i like it trimmed. which reminds me, i have to go handle some breasts tonight.

if quality is more important than price, then try to buy as little frozen food as possible.

Another vote for Healthy Choice. I like their french bread pizza. Just don't cook it for 3 minutes like the package says. Cook it for 2-2.5 minutes.

The two best I've come across are the Boston Market and the Stouffers Homestyle frozen dinners. They cost usually about $4-something per box, but that's not bad for food that you will actually eat.

I second Marie Callendar's

their chicken pot pie is amazing. it comes in those special microwave bags with the inner foil thing, and it cooks the pie to perfection. crisp and flakey brown crust that breaks into the pie when you crush it. yummmmm.

Also increases the absorption of water into the chicken breast, making them heavier and more expensive. :)

instead of buying all of these prepackaged frozen dinners, you can make a lot of this food yourself on a weekend, freeze it, and reheat it when you want to have it. my roommates and i used to do that with indian food all the time, you get 5-10 minute gourmet meals that kill anything you can pick up In Your Grocer's Freezer. i'd suggest looking up some recipies for casseroles, soups, sauces... even miniature chicken pot pies. the food will taste great, be healthier for you, cheaper, and you'll have more control over what you want to eat.

A big help with frozen food is to cook it in the oven or on the stove instead of the microwave. Those Marie Callender's things are great done in the oven or stove. Especially the chicken alfredo.

If you have a Schwan's delivery guy up there buy from them. I don't find food that's that good at the groccery store. Some of it isn't any good, but they will take it back and give you a refund. It's pretty expensive though :( Their steaks are really good, as are the rest of the meats. Very suprising. Breads rock, vegatables are great, deserts yummy :)

It could be regional, but Boston Market frozen stuff is pretty good to me if you're into that kinda "home cookin" thing.
