So is it certain that one democrat will have the required number of delegates?

Is it possible that Clinton and Obama could split it down the middle, with enough getting siphoned off to the side that neither has the required amount for the candadicy?

Has it ever happened before in history? How would they resolve it?

certainly. it'll be a brokered convention... we'd have to assume that Edwards would encourage his delegate or two to go Obama, though.

Whats a brokered convention?

from wiki:

If there is no single candidate receiving a majority of delegates at the end of the primary season, a scenario called a brokered convention would result, where a candidate would be selected either at or near the convention, through political horse-trading and lesser candidates compelling their delegates to vote for one of the front runners.

a brokered convention is probably the only scenario in which a H/O ticket might be spawned, however unlikely.

I don't know. I've got a feeling those retarded super delegates are going to be enough to push the Hildabeast over the top.
