Rockstar Games, proudly announced today that the PC version of the global blockbuster, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, is set to hit retail shelves in North America on May 13th and in Europe on May 16th. The PC version will possess enhanced features including improved graphics and sound, additional PC controls, as well as several options for players to customize the game.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the sequel to last year?s best-selling Grand Theft Auto 3, has once again received universal critical acclaim, a multitude of awards and financial success by becoming the fastest selling, highest grossing PlayStation®2 game released to date, outdoing its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 3. Released for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system last October, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had the distinct honor of becoming the undisputed number-one selling video game of 2002. The Grand Theft Auto franchise has now achieved the unimaginable feat of ruling the video game sales charts two years in a row.
"We felt that we had to truly outdo ourselves when it came to developing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and felt that we owed it to the fans to continue to keep enhancing and delivering the gameplay, cinematic graphics, production values and audio experience that have become synonymous with the Grand Theft Auto franchise," said Sam Houser, president of Rockstar Games.
"We are truly humbled by the response that the game has received so far and are extremely excited to showcase Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on the PC."
"The real beauty behind Grand Theft Auto is not only the freedom that it allows the players, but also the freedom that it has given us as developers," added Leslie Benzies, president of Rockstar North. "The open ended, non-linear world of Grand Theft Auto allows us to stretch the limits of our imaginations by giving us an open canvas to work with. This was especially the case when it came to creating Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The 80?s fashion styles, music, and sensibility fueled our creativity to the fullest. We are extremely excited for the PC world to experience the fruits of our labor when the enhanced version of the game is released this spring."
so I returned the PS2 after getting nauseos from the bad framerate and pixel crawl.

Anyway, I've noticed that PS2 can't really keep up with GTA:VC's pace at times. One very obvious situation is that the vehicle I'm driving seems to be "floating" on the ocean, waiting for the road to be rendered {g}

I've seen that in a few places and it seems to me to be a problem with the renderer rendering the wrong thing, not a frame rate issue.Anyway, I've noticed that PS2 can't really keep up with GTA:VC's pace at times. I've never understood why it took so long for them to port a console game to the PC? Almost as if it's a complete re-write. At least it is coming at this point. I can think of a few Infogrames games that I'd like to see on the PC - Nascar Heat 2002, Nascar Dirt to Daytona, Driver 2, Splashdown...

It seems to me that a person writing solely to criticize the grammar and spelling of others would be well served to examine his own first. Your sentence has no verb, and "grammer" is not a word.

If GTA:VC engine is the same as GTA for the PC, then you still should be able to play that game on a GF2. Played it on a GF2MX (AXP 1600) and it was still ok at 800x600. You obviously can't expect to turn on AA/AF though![]()

The main reason I stopped playing GTA on PC was becoz of the endless bugs. It always hung on WinXP (my friend and I both). But somehow after he went back to Win2k, it was fine.
Like you said, I really hope they use a better engine as well. Hate having a good game ruined by terrible bugs...

I don't even know what pixel crawl is, but GTA3 looks twice as good on a pc as Vice City does on the ps2. I couldn't stand playing Vice City on a ps2 because it looks like crap compared to GTA3 on pc. Needless to say, I can't wait for Vice City to come out on pc.I've never seen pixel crawl running Vice City on the PS/2 and I've got atleast 25 hrs into it.
