Is there a limit as to how big a file you can send over gmail. I'm trying to send a 54meg file to someone and it won't work. I thoguht it was a firefox problem, but it wouldn't work in IE either. First it was telling the "the document contains no data" and then it said "could not perform operation, try again in a few seconds"

Believe the GMail attachment limit is 10MB. For larger attachments, try YouSendIt.

Yep. With Base64 encoding, your binary file actually can't be any bigger then 7.5 megs.

Thanks for the link Actuary... This will work great in conjunction with Gmail, assuming gmail can accept incoming files >10MB.

The attachment limit (thank you for the clarification, sciencewhiz) works in both directions, I believe.

From the YouSendIt "How Does It Work?" page:

1. Choose who you want to send a file to. It can be anyone with an email address. You can specify multiple email addresses separated by commas.
2. Select a file to send. You can send photos, audio, documents or anything else. Your file will be stored by YouSendIt without ever filling up your recipient's mailbox.
3. Click on Send. YouSendIt will automatically email your recipient a link to your file stored on our server. Your file will be deleted after seven days.

Ergo, no attachment. Just a link in the message to the recipient.

Ive switched over to gmail completely. At first it was a little funny, but i got hang of the labels and my email is more organized then ever. There are a lot of gmail nazis out there who have yet to even give it a try before they badmouth it. Yeah it has TEXT ads, but isnt that better then IMAGES? Also, yes it reads your email to target you ads, but .... I dont really think the program actually cares to take note of who your sleeping with or what your a/s/l is.
