The movie sucked because DOOM had NO PLOT!!!! It was fun because it was the first semi-photorealistic first person shooter. All you did was shoot things and unlock colored door puzzles. Not much of a movie there.

DOOM III tried to make a plot in the game, and that failed terribly.

Actually there was a (relatively thin) plot, but the movie completely fucked it up. It replaced the moon with Mars and hell with genetic mutations or some shit.

*Shrugs* I just treated it as a generic space marine vs. monster movie that happened to be called Doom. Watchable, esp. the first person perspective part.
