There was an episode of Mythbusters that addressed this. Yes, filtering vodka does make it a lot better. Mythbusters, being idiots though, said the myth was busted because it didn't make the cheap vodka as good as the best vodka.

I think it would be a better idea to just use one of thos ejug filters though

No, mythbusters said filtering did make the cheap vodka better, it just didn't make any sense to do it because of the cost and effort of filtering the cheap vodka.

Just buy the better vodka.

If you don't already know, I'm going to let you in on a little secret.

Take 1 handle of shitty vodka.
Take 1 30 pack of cheap beer.
Get a bunch of Country Time lemonade.

Mix it all together in whatever jug you have that's big enough. Back in my dorm days, we didn't have anything so me mixed it in a garbage can we can we cleaned out with bleach and soap.

It tastes great and will get you absolutely tanked.

For variety you can take half the alcohol, and make one batch with regular lemonade and one batch with pink lemonade.

We used to do that for house parties.
