I'm not trying to accomplish anything. It was the OP's idea to somehow circumvent his companies monitoring. While my suggestion won't help him with the actual circumvention, it will allow him an environment to operate freely, knowing he is one reboot away from turning his laptop back to his company's standard setup.

Hows that one saying go, better to ask forgiveness, than to ask permission. That's pretty much how my job is. I don't know what'd I'd do if I worked in a uptight work environment. Of course we(few hundred folks) don't really have IT people on site so it's pretty much a free for all.

We outsource our IT and they never configure our laptops correctly (we do .NET development), so we generally reformat them as soon as we get them. Company doesn't care - they'd rather we have it the way we want it than have to waste time fighting a bad config.

I don't feel you have any idea what you are talking about. Reset it? Reset what, your home IP? Considering every residential cable provider I've ever known doesn't allow you to just reset your IP address at will, and most maintain the same IP address assignment for a cable modem from anywhere from a year to an eternity if an outage doesn't take place that requires equipment replacement, this is an impressive feat.

As for using a Proxy, I have one word for you that you appear to have ignored in my previous posts: Packeteer. And even if I WASN'T using a Packeteer, your office is wired to a patch panel that is wired to a switch that makes it EXTREMELY easy to tell that all your traffic is going to one IP address via proxy. So you think you're smart and all, you use a Proxy, I block the proxy, you then switch to a different proxy, and me not being retarded see all your traffic is ONCE AGAIN going to a single IP address, at which point I just disable your switch port and send an e-mail to your manager/HR.

Try it a third time and you won't be a problem for me to deal with anymore anyway.
