trying to figure out what just happened to my truck. I was doing about 65 when all of a sudden I lost acceleration, with a little manuavering I managed to pull over to the shoulder on the left side of the expressway. My check engine light was on and I could'nt start the truck back up. Right away I suspected that my fan belt had slipped or either torn as I just had this problem a few months ago. Well I checked under the hood and the fan belt was fine, no problems there. Then it hit me, the reason I was stalled on the side of the road at 6:45 in the morning was because I forgot to gas up the truck the night before. Fortunately I was able to get help from emergency road side assistance, they gave me enough gas to get to the oasis about a mile up the expressway and I filled up.

I am such an idiot  TGIF

what makes this so bad is that I've been running late for work almost all week. Yesterday I ended up take half a sick day in the morning because eating too many protein bars and shakes will ensure that you stay seated on the porcelain throne for hours. Earlier this week I had to meet with a home appraiser (I'm working on a real estate deal) who could'nt show up any other time than 10:30am on Monday. Now I have to convince my boss that I was late because I ran out of gas.

Just show your boss the AAA receipt, have a casual laugh, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Out of gas. LOL. Oh, wait. . . I've done that twice.

I've done that one on my way to high school. I was so mad because when I ran out I was not even a mile away from school. When I had left, I was certain that I had more than enough gas to cover the 8 mile trip to school and then hit up the gas station a mile down the road from my school. I think the worse part of it all after I ran out of gas was that I locked my keys in my car with my car sitting in drive. That sucked.

I must admit I have never done this act, running out of gas. I hope I never do :)

Stupid things like this that I've done:

Driven 1 mile to work, passed a gas station on the way there, and parked. Coming home, I didn't have enough gas to make it out of the parking lot. Had to walk the 1/2 mile to the gas station.

Locked my keys in my truck - with the engine running. That was in high school, and I spent first period raiding the shop class trying to figure out a way to get the truck unlocked.

Locked keys in car at the beach once, but that wasn't particularly exciting. I called my dad to bring spare keys.

Ran out of gas on the way to school in that old truck. Not particularly exciting either, the gas gauge wasn't particularly accurate and it had no gas light.

did it once on the way to the gas station (had to go for the farther one, wanted the better price). it was awhile back though and hasnt happened again. i dont even let it go under a quarter of the tank now. that situation taught me that lesson.
